Seemingly still no solution to PSX achievements on switch. RA recognizes the game and loads the achievement list (game also shows up on retroachievements profile), but nothing will unlock on any game. Something in ReArmed emulator is not allowing the triggers to take effect. I just updated to the latest version of RA (Feb 26, 2020 - confirmed when I go to info - system info in switch RA) and tried again and nothing.

Am I missing something, or are Playstation achievements only available for NTSC games and not PAL?

I've made a dump of an original Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (PAL) and achievements don't load.
Downloaded an NTSC version and it works.

Are PAL games simply not accepted?

Which regions a set supports is entirely up to the dev(s), as far as I'm aware. There are other PS1 sets where the PAL version is supported.

To add to Gamechamp's explanation, it's not just a matter of the dev arbitrarily choosing one version over the other, but rather some versions have different memory locations. I know it's possible to code the cheev to work with multiple versions, but seeing as that requires effectively coding a brand new cheev, not many people are willing to do that.
As for Crash Warped specifically though, the PAL and US versions treat the Time Trial timers differently, making the secret US development times either easier, harder, or outright impossible on PAL. Pretty good justification to keep PAL non-effective, even if said times don't currently have cheevs for them.

In that case it would've been a good idea to have region info on the games achievement page (among First released, Genre etc..), so finding the right version is easier (PAL, NTSC:J, NTSC:U and NTSC:C).

I know that data can be found in the forum OP for a given game (though I'm not sure how that works), but you may be right that having it on the main page as well would be beneficial.

I often have problems with regions for games and finding the right ROM. I usually end up using a ROM without the same hash listed and it will work fine. Some forum posts list which ROMs to use, others don't.

I was able to get PS1 achievements working on Switch. I'm using the latest stable build of RA (1.8.6) but then I'm using this build of PCSX-rearmed:

This is the quote from the dev, m4xw, in regards to this build. He posted this a few days ago along with a link to the build in response to people saying that pcsx_rearmed is crashing on RA 1.8.6:

“Here, just whipped up a 2 month old pcsx rearmed build with experimental dynarec that i had floating around with a RA from earlier today”

I just happened to try it with retroachievements and saw that it worked.
