@GamerGal1992 Unfortunately in-game cheat codes are against the rules unless explicitly allowed by the achievement set developer: https://docs.retroachievements.org/guidelines/users/global-leaderboard-and-achievement-hunting-rules.html#_10-do-not-use-in-game-cheat-codes-unless-it-is-specified-as-allowed-by-the-developer

I tried to patch this twice already and it keeps loading the other single player only achievement, I cant get this to work and I need a video or step by step guide on how to do this because I want to finish this game with a friend.

#Fixed

I figured it out by patching and renaming the bin file, thank you to the person who put the step by steps on previous page

After multiple reports the QATeam has taken the advice from above this set should be demoted until a custom RApatch can be made to block out the exploits that are not allowed by the CoC. A vote was carried out to demote the set that passed.

Hopefully this will help spreading some lights caused by misinformation or by ignorance:

When playing on the american version of this game, go to save and when inputting the savefile name place yourself on the "V" and go diagonally in order to go out of bounds in it; once that is done, input the directions in the following line: (Chart: โ†’ = R | โ† = L | โ†‘ = U | โ†“ = D)

RLLRRLRRRUL RULLLLLLRRLL RURULLUULLR UDLDRRUUDURU (Then press Start and Triangle to go back to the hub, be sure not to save or press other directions while out of bounds in the keypad screen).

If you have input everything correctly, you'll have successfully manipulated the game memory to make the forced victory appear since the start of the round (it still has those 8 seconds delay after the round fade-in before appearing), it'll also cause the timers to be forced to countdown once they clock down to 1:00 and wumpas will spawn on you during the dash minigames; overall, the CPU also becomes a bit crazy.

All of these can be noticed in speedruns using that specific glitch (be aware that the directions for memory manipulations are different for NTSC-J and PAL).

That said, I do understand the reason behind retiring the set to find a way to avoid 0:00 seconds time to be recorded on the leaderboards and I hope this will help the developers testing the game and find a way to avoid that being abused for submitted times; but I find it silly to call it a cheat; it is neither an in-game intended feature, nor a cheat code, it is just kind of the same you would do for the Arbitrary Code Execution in Pokรฉmon games.

Hi, a friend and I recently started this game with the goal of completing it.

Now that the achievement set has been demoted, what does that mean exactly ?

Will it no longer be possible to complete the set until it gets patched ?
If so, will the achievements already unlocked be kept, or will we have to wait for a new set and start over from scratch (saves and achievements) ?

I'm just trying to get a clearer idea of how this usually works. Thanks!

Good to hear, it doesn't look like memory manipulation was blocked in the logic, and apparently there were cheat codes too? This would also be a great time to fix the leaderboards, there are lots of wonky 0:00.00 records at the moment. Looking forward to the fixed product.

retroJEK, yes, you won't be able to earn any more achievements until the set is patched and repromoted to official. We will need someone to claim the set and start working on a patch. You will keep your previous progress. You will only lose progress if an old achievement is permanently demoted (scrapped, deleted, etc.) but that is unlikely to happen since the existing achievements can just be reworked/recoded if necessary. Make sure to hold onto your save file.

I'm not entirely sure about this, but I think if you really wanted to, you could earn the demoted achievements by ticking the Earn Unofficial Achievements setting in your emulator. This would just be a local thing in case you were really itching to finish the set. It won't give you progress on the site or automatically give you the achievements when they are promoted.

Save file kept, I did this without glitching or using exploits, and to go through all platinum relics again would drive me crazy.

My only fear is this becoming another case like the Sega Genesis' Altered Beast: no one will claim and all the cheevos earned from it gone forever. Who mastered it before, great, who didn't, well...

What garantee we have that someone will claim and patch the leaderboard exploit, huh? Not to mention the OCD this does for those who want to master every Crash PS1 game.

Honestly? I don't think this will be as likely here due to Crash Bandicoot being relatively more well known than Altered Beast.

I've still got my old save files. If I need to redo tournaments on hard with each character then fine. If I need to refight each of the bosses for both sides... fine. If I need to redo platinum relics? ABSOLUTEY NOT! Still, glad I got the master in the past.

Mirtazapine & Betrayus, you probably won't have to redo anything. Unless the achievements get permanently demoted (again, unlikely), you will keep all your achievement progress. If they DO get deleted and replaced, or if there are new achievements added related to an old achievement that you already unlocked, the manual unlock team should be able to manually unlock the relevant cheevos for those who had the old achievements.

For example, if for some reason the revision added an individual Platinum Relic achievement for Crash Ball, then you should be able to put in manual unlock request for that if you already had the relevant warp room Platinum Relic achievement (Yeah, Red Yeah, Red (25)) unlocked. There are several instances of this happening in the past and the manual unlock team helped out immensely. I believe Crash Bandicoot: Warped was one of those games, when it got a subset? Can't quite remember exactly what it was.

That leads into why it is important to hang on to your completed save. If the revision adds a NEW challenge achievement with no relevant old achievement, let's say... I don't know, get a score of 999,999,999,999 in Dragon Drop within 5 picoseconds or something like that, then you will need your save that already has progress up to that level, because you won't be able to get a manual unlock for that. If you didn't have your save you would have to replay the whole game again to unlock that level to work on that achievement.

We don't even know if this will get new achievements at this moment. Just worth mentioning now in case it does so nobody is caught off-guard.

True, i'm a big fan of Altered Beast but Crash Bandicoot is waay known, for real...

And I don't think any of the cheevos will be demoted, actually, the set will be the same as ever, this is all just about patching the memory manipulation exploit. Here's a video of it:

This memory manipulation is used in speedruns. There's "memory manipulation" and "no memory manipulation" speedrun categories for this game. Huh, interesting...

But once this is patched, it's on!
