I've played every version, excluding the European variant and at Stage 5, the boss is a bug. I've followed many walkthroughs to be sure that the boss doesn't awaken without the proper trigger command. Basically, the procedure I'm following right now is to place the two Magical Nitro's (Tower first, then the seal near the Boss) and then get the Mandragora placed at the Tower to reach the Goddess' Statues, solve the puzzle and break the seal. After this was completed, I went to get the last Mandragora, saved my game at the start of the level, and then went to the boss' chamber to place the Mandragora with the Magical Nitro. But as the animation played out, the boss just randomly awakens without triggered the crystal magic to properly awaken it.

If I continue to battle the boss and then trigger the crystal, the game just goes to a black screen. Simply put, a sequence break that breaks the game.

I'm gonna try the European variant of the ROM to see if that resolves the issue.

But geez... You go through way too much to beat this level, yet this bug makes it worse.
