Now that the TLDR is done with

Spoiler (Click to show)
Back in early November users were given a survey about who they thought was important to RA. We took that to events team, we got some input from Scott as well, and we widdled the list down. It took weeks to really shape the list and it easily could have had 50 more users. We tried to have a list of current and historical users that contributed.

Our criteria was contribution
-Development
-Moderation
-Administration
-Art
-Writing/Editing
-Community and Social Prescense

So each person on this list is represented with a gamer challenge and a developer challenge option for those wanting to mix and match. The Event will start 1/1/2023 with 10 challenges available to take on at your own pace during 2023.

Full List of Top 100 (and a brief history on users already featured monthly!)
Spoiler (Click to show)
Alena: Alena is hands down one of the more legendary set designers on the site. Her care given to every sets design rivals the best developers in sites history. Matched with great art, and obscure choices of games you've likely never heard of. Some of my favorite times on this site have been playing thru her sets.

AlexGatao: Alex while he was here brought a very positive energy to things he did on RA. He was a huge fan of Zelda and Mega Man X content. Although not everyone is a fan of hacks on RA, he brought many great sets for those of us that do enjoy that style of game. I personally will never forget during the PS2 rollout Alex having to give up the Mega Man X Collection and no sweat handed over everything he did to the dev that took it over (code notes, save states, achievement logic, and icons). It ended up back in his hands after all when that dev bailed but in the end it was more important to Alex the set got out rather than it being his name on it.

AlmightyXor: It was a dark and cold dreary night when out of nowhere a Jr Dev appeared and took on the legend itself, the Legend of Dragoon. That would begin what has been a slow paced but extrodainary dev career launching hit after hit set. Xor of course makes mistakes but the level of care and design he puts into every little thing he does is a reason he is not only a top dev but was invited to the Web Team on RA. Xor is also the wise sage of Revision Discussion, since becoming a developer he has bolth read and gave serious input to almost every revision that has gone up. To a point discussions come to a halt when Xor speaks up, he doesn't have a stake in the game except for the greater benefit of RA. And that is the legend of the Almighty Xor! ~Woomy~

Altomar: One of our oldest tenured devs is also one of our prominent RPG developers. Altomar has been around pumping out classic RPGs for years. While many gravitate towards the action rpgs, you'll usually find Altomar deving the turn based kind. A kind fellow who prefers a low key conversation to the bustle of usual discord ongoings.

Arekdias: Noted by many as the best gamer on the site, a true monster that can slay hard challenges like a champ. A master of the retro points even. Arekdias has filed a lot of helpful tickets, and will get on your case if you demote good hard ones.

AuburnRDM: One day we talked enough about Retroachievements at 100Pals that Auburn got curious and snuck across the border. There Auburn came upon a great beanstalk and climbed it. At the top of this mountainlike structure was Unwanted Hotel. When Auburn walked inside they knew that they were going to hang around forever also because the vines had tied their legs up and they were now bound by the Unwanted curse. Instead of just accepting their imprisonment they became fascinated with the world around them and embraced RA. The more they did the less the shackles held them and they were able to grow to new heights: Running Unwanted Hotel, Moderation, Administration, and the most coveted of them all Developer (because you got half off magic beans with that title!). Now the land they wandered into is there home as they help build the foundation that future people wander into its glory land seeking flying strawberries or or cool discord titles until they are hooked.

BahamutVoid: Bahamutvoid is a moderator on RA. He ran Challenge League 4 as well as Console Wars I. He likes Chili Dogs in Alaska while camping in the wild listening to his favorite moonlight sonata covers.

Bartis1989: Bartis is a developer and member of the QA Maintainers. His most famous accomplishments on RA involve like GDE creating patches saving games like Advance Wars. Bartis is the leader of the now semi defunct Set Repair Team, and although he mostly works in the background of RA his contributions are worth their weight in gold.

Bendyhuman: My first interaction with Bendy was hearing him on the RAPodcast Test Episode and I gave Shootzyy the note "This Bendy guy has a lot of interesting stuff to say but he sounds too fake, like hes hiding behind himself". Bendy started to really improve fast and became the podcast favorite. But it wasn't until I approached him about hosting an event that the shell started cracking and Bendy really started showing his potential. Even if Master Quest was a flop Bendy came out of his shell bouncing back immediately with Peak Streak. The event was a success and from there Bendy took the next step introducing Daily Distractions which we are currently three seasons deep on its massive success. Last year he was approached to lead the new Events Team and honestly as he makes more and more strides Bendy has proven himself tenfold as a pillar of this community that is able to lead and help retain users on this site. Now imagine what he's cooking up next!

BigWeedSmokerMan: Originally we thought this guy was a troll account but Bigweed came onto the scene bigger than life and was gone in a big puff of smoke. During his time he was on DevQuest, DevCompliance, QA-Maintainer, QATeam, and also ran a secret alternate account to dominate a leaderboard. A dev who only dabbled in each system that also told us the truth about Tim Allen. In the end he was just a single christian mother looking for love until he stumbles back in again looking for a new high.

Bl4h8L4hBl4h: Sorry flashfire, Bl4h is *The* most famous Aussie of RetroAchievements. As a developer, it took awhile but Bl4h found his calling in the homebrew and rhythm game scene. His passion for that indie calling has really become the driving force in his developing of games, that and Saturn fighters.

Blazekickn: There is a lot to unfold with the user known as Blazekickn. The key things to remember about Blaze is his love for juice, pokemon, and semi realistic semi arcadey racing. Blaze is certainly someone that can come off as opinionated, but deep down he cares a lot about RetroAchievements. He may drive the bus to the cliff but he'll never drive it over the edge. Like many loud personalities in life unless you use his talents they will go to waste. Blaze is always at his best when he is someone people looked too, a maybe grumpy teacher but one that when he puts his full force and effort into is a great resource RA is lucky to have.

blendedsea: BlendedSea was born for the world of video game development. As an avid gamer since childhood, he had always dreamt of being able to make his own game achievements. So when he joined RetroAchievements, he jumped at the chance. He quickly settled into his role and soon became a valued member of the team. He worked diligently on a number of projects, and even helped develop new game sets from innovative ideas. His enthusiasm for the project was infectious, and his fellow devs began to look to him for creative solutions and advice. The RetroAchievements team soon realized that he was great at what he did, and they decided to promote him to Code Reviewer. BlendedSea was thrilled to have been given the opportunity to help the Jr Devs and was determined to make the most of it. He also is the overlord of Bingus.

Brian: Although he has moved on to other interests, Brian was a cornerstone of RAs first half of its existence. An admin, and master developer he didn't develop many sets but the ones he did are some of the most popular all time on RA. Brian also took many developers under his wing and helped them in their journey. He was a grumpy guy but also the guy in chat who'd drop his hat to help you. Just don't whine his challenge achievements are too hard!

Bryan1150: Bryan entered the scene with two portable screens to his name. He entered the ole voice channel corral and said gimme a Nintendo DS set on the rocks. Once the dual nature entered his blood stream he gave up the farmer life to become the worlds greatest Nintendo DS dev. These days he continues to dev amazing DS sets while working with the Council of Developer Compliance to keep games pure. Some say he still can be seen in the hills of Happy Valley farming away, looking for his next Nintendo DS set.

caricatur: Although no longer around, former staff member caricatur was an older man that was reserved but a huge help. He was a big help in the hashing and patching projects, and when he vanished it threw the site for a loop as we had to reorganize everything we had. Sometimes a users prescense isn't felt until they are gone.

Celeryyy: One of the earliest people to join the site with a coding background he's responsible for finding and fixing several security holes back when the site first became open-sourced. Some of his biggest accomplishments involve getting the ball rolling on event badges with the Pumpkin King event by assigning a game to a nonexistant console, a practice which has become commonplace with almost every other event on the site. He was also one of the people involved in bringing RetroAchievements to RetroArch, another project he used to be pretty involved in. He was a user ahead of his time and played by his own rules which allowed him to create a couple achievements for NSMBDS long before most people were even thinking about DS achievements. Currently he's lost interest in the site but during his short time on RA he has made a big impact.

cirellio: The old bird I mentioned in another writeup. Cirellio was the first big dev RA ever had and an early admin, while today we are spoiled with many quality devs, back in the early days of RA when a Cirellio set dropped the entire site screeched to a halt. He didn't do many sets during his time (Only 5) but they were sets so comprehensive and ahead of their time with a toolkit that was holding him back. When tele repaired/updated the FF6 set what he found was that the set was just limited by what we could do back in 2014, it wasn't bad by any stretch. Unfortunately when the site started to really have issues in 2016 Cirellio left the site and then shortly after that vanished from the internet altogether. Here on RA though he will always be aq critical part of the early era of the site.

CobaltZeroni: Cobalt is what I'd call an unsung hero of the site. Originally just this guy that like TouHou and did his own self challenge The Grand Tour. There was a call, a need for help and his organization skills were a known thing. Many in his place may have said no but he took it up and stepped in the roll of Claims Manager being the clerk keeping everything in line, a service even with automation on site he still does and in some cases better than the site itself. Take that AI, you lose!

cochese788 (aka ShaneVsGame): If I were to tell you the longest tenured promoter of a streamer streaming RA was, you'd probably guess Max but its actually Cochese. Hes been streaming RA since he joined the site and has led many over the years to getting into the site. Of course by playing lots of RA hes been a fixture in the top standings for years, just don't rescore his points!

DanielARP: Daniel is the patron saint of damageless. Some say he can walk between the raindrops during a storm and never get wet. Daniel is former QA, Staff, Code Reviewer and Developer who is now pursuing his personal goal to be the next great code man. A lover of Chicken Little, Ratatouie, and never taking damage. And yes he is actually Mr Bean.

DarknessZedzi: Zedzi is a dev that cares deeply about games being fleshed out. All of his sets try to push as much as they can to deliver the full experience in one blow.

Delmaru: Very few developers of the past make sets, leave and then come back. When they do they usually throw a fit but not Delmaru. They rejoined as a Junior Developer and took it on the chin with all the issues of the past their sets haunted them with. Delmaru came out of that with a revised Diddy Kong Racing set that then got tested immediately in Achievement of the Month and came out sparkling. Delmaru has since been one of the stronger developers on this site and served for a time as a Code Reviewer. One look at their claims showcases they aren't anywhere near done as they continue to drop "A" Quality sets month after month.

Dexterspet: Many of you might only know this user by his left behind emote :trucy: but the legacy Dexterspet has his crucial for the first half of RA's life. A former admin, a teacher of the code before jr dev programs even existed, and a creator of many great garbage game sets like Elf or Daze Before Christmas. Dex handled Aotw when I passed it down to him and is often the forgotten host between myself and Flara/Ikki. Dex did many jobs we'd classify as 'grunt work' to keep RA alive when no one else would. 2016 was the year he carried the site on his back before kdecks swooped in to usher in a new age. Some of us stay for a longtime and others do our service and leave, for Dex we thank him for his service.

DoctorV: Don't let the quiet Swedish DoctorV fool you. They have been a longtime code reviewer, member of Devquest, member of QA and a very strong developer. But it is no surprise their love of My Little Pony is a center focus of their challenges.

Draco655: My Points!!!!!! Draco isn't very active anymore having traded RA for a Youtube career streaming Mario Kart Tour where he is now ranked in the top 100 worldwide. When he was on RA he streamed on Twitch and served as a great ambassador to bringing many people onto the site and when he co-started the original RAPodcast he became an excpert at networking many RA streamers. Draco loves his pokemon, SMW, Mario 64, and Mario Kart. He likes free points on the beach, hates rescores, and will never beat Queen Gohma. The best story about Draco is he was convinced that Softcore being removed/split would mean he'd lose all his points and drop from Rank 10 to like 150...even though he never played Softcore. A true math genius!

Etron: If you don't know Etron then you haven't started with the incredible world of RATOOLS. Etron is a man in pursuit of knowledge and passing that onto you. As a developer Etron has focused on the truly oddball of libraries and its made him a dev with a vast variety. But his true passion series well you'll be playing that.

PS. check out Etron's RATool scripting guides in RANews or their GitHub

Excessiveiser: Excess is a new developer on the scene with a love of 3D Platformers and collect a thons. If there is a 3d Platformer out there he is either trying to dev it or master it, or both! Why he makes this list has been the quiet but recognized repair work he has put in. Its this usual unsung work that really elevates a user in the eyes of many that silently watch on.

Falcus: A user of old that got involved finally on the site this year making dev and code reviewer. He has taken development by storm and owes the community every Armored Core set that can be made. Sorry dems the rules! Other than that Falcus has an extreme passion for ticket fixing and overall repair.

FBernkastelKues: FBern is a longtime developer, former staff, and current Events Team that is known for his hard sets. Not many gamers have conquered his Xenogears, FF8 or FF7 sets. Those that have, truly have climbed mountains to do so. FBern is also the current host of Leaderboard of the Month, an under rated event about competing on interesting leaderboards.

Flara & ikki5 (Flikki): Ikki and Flara are a married couple on RA from the land of Canada but they have also been Mod, Admin, and the 3rd Host of Achievement of the Week. After 2nd host Dexterspet ended his run this duo picked up the reigns and led the flagship event for around 5 years. They introduced badges, mini events, voting processes, and more to the event that have really modernized the event from its humble origins. It is easily their biggest legacy to the site.

freezestar: Freezestar was just your typical average gamer who found a haunted achievement of the week. But then he solved the magic achievement of the month award and became a Beetleborg! I mean he got invited to Events team where freezestar has not only run his own popular Mario Party event but has been a prominent member and outright MVP of the team. Events team goes because of people like freezestar.

Fridge: Originally designed as a man/machine hybrid to store cold brews. Fridge entered the developer program and became a fishing legend. Then he took a step further and became a code reviewer and released a series of videos to help teach the next generation of RA developers. Lately the Fridge has joined the Dev Compliance team but still has his sights set on the ultimate goal, a nice relaxing fishing vacation.

GalacticSpear (aka matheus2653): When I think of users that really got a 2nd act I instantly think of Mr Spear here. This average apple juice drinker came back fresh as a gamer and a developer. Not running from any responsibility and taking even more on. Spear has brought us some of the best Subset/Bonus sets released on the site that have captivated the userbase. I can't remember any revision getting as much positive feedback as DKC or any subset getting the insane love Mega Man Powered Up subsets got. When I think of legacy of GalacticSpear I think of what he has brought to the revision game and how other devs have been inspired by it.

GameDragon: GameDragon is an old admin that helped save RA when it was in its bleakest times. He is one of the founders of the discord. They weren't a huge dev in terms of output but their favorite game is featured as the gamer challenge.

gde: A long term staff member who was known for his love of Tomb Raider. Usually quiet and reserved it was during the Watara Supervision launch that he made his mark on not only RA History but the history of gaming. We had an unfinishable game and GDE came out of nowhere and created a fix to make it work. Meaning RA's community was the first in the world to ever finish this video game. Many names of history are forgotten and GDE has given more to RA than just this but you never know the moment you change the world.

Ghal416: A longtime user that in the last year got involved as a developer and quickly gained attention with his slam dunk Lunar sets on Sega CD. Named an up and coming developer to take note of, every set Ghal has put out has been of max effort. Combine that with his community prescense in the twitch side of the world and Ghal is a valuable asset to the future of RA.

Gollawiz: Every year there are users that reach developer status and explode onto the scene. Gollawiz defines that for me for 2022. Every month you could get pinged and another Gollawiz banger dropped on you. Sure we expected ps2 games to do well but the man drops a fantranslated (usual kiss of death) of Dr Slump and rides to being one of the most talked about sets on RA for over a month. The future is bright for Gollawiz as he is also serving as a code reviewer alongside being a master PS2 dev. Where he heads in 2023 is really where he wants to go on the road map

guineu: If you ask those in the know who the best Dev was in site history for the amount of output and how little got tickets, it would be Guindev the alter ego of Guineu. He was developer for only slightly over a year and put out 84 sets across 41 different systems. Even without this feat he has been a top 10 hell top 5 gamer for years and a user that has always provided great help when reporting tickets. He may have left dissatisfied on his own terms but that doesn't take away from the insane legacy he left as a dev and the one he continues to have as a gamer.

hardt: Simply put nothing explains hardt like his love for the PC Engine. He spent a majority of his time on these sets and is responsible for a good chunk of its library. But thats not all he made a bunch of quality sets during his stay here earning a reputation as a reliable dev

heintsi:
So you've finally come, RA User!
But it is not yet time....
You are not strong enough to defeat Heinsti!
You'll regret coming here!
I'm going to feast on your points!

HEINTSI APPEARS!
Fight Item
Spell Equip
Parry Flee

HippopotamusRex: One of the sites most legendary gamers and long time twitch streamer. Hippo honestly wrote about his own challenge better than I can:

I really liked the Wizards and Warriors 3 set from awhile back I thought it had a neat mix of unique challenges as well as the standard ones like no death, no damage. Usually when there's unique challenges it's a coin toss as to whether they fit or not. There are a lot of instances I've seen where the unique challenge does not fit well with the gameplay and it ends up frustrating in a very lateral way compared to the design constraint of the regular game. Like learning a segment seemingly picked at random by the challenge creator that doesn't fit with the rest of the game in an extremely constrained and harsh manner of execution. The WW3 one wasn't like that the unique challenges it picked worked well. Like the example above of a challenge that doesn't fit kind of seems to me like its a seed of an idea and then the seed isn't pruned later if it eventually grows to not fit the set. The WW3 ones grew into fitting the set rather than being awkwardly jammed in after they've already grown as an idea by the set dev.

I also like specifically in RPG sets that have completion stuff for treasures when they're cleanly organized into 100% per area. I've been in situations where I play a set that has 'get all treasures in the game' and I'm at like 343/348 and I have no clue where these missing treasures are. I've recently played the GBC DW3 set and he's got it organized by continent so you do eventually end up getting the same overarching challenge of all treasures in the game but you aren't left wondering where those missing ones are. They're at least triangulated into the segment of the game you're missing in the achievement list.

HolyShinx: The Pierogie Master is a former Jr Mod and RANEWS Contributor that also finally got dev after what seemed like a milennia. A master of Super Mario World and obsessive fan of any set that hit the site. Shinx lives and breathes Super Mario World and if he isn't doing that he is stuffing his face with Pierogie goodness. A former fixture of RA voice chat and the discord for years, some say you can still see Shinx in the wee hours of the morning when everyone else is asleep. Others say thats just a man yelling Camerrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Hotscrock: Mod, admin, and leapfrog enthusiast. Hotscrock has been a pillar in the community for years, and while most day to day users will only see them playing various events to stay ahead of tele in event badges won. Behind the scenes Hots is hard at work at keeping the upper echelon teams on the site organized and on task.

Infernox: Although not as active these days we got to where we are now with some very important aspects because of the work Infernox put in. The Site Cleanup team was Infernox's biggest contribution to the site, creating not only a sub team dedicated to helping fix little things on the site but also opening channels to encourage any user to suggest such fixes. This changed things from relying on just QA to settle it to an entire workforce patching little bits of the site without needing to pester anyone. Then there is the hub work Infernox put in, taking the project over he established many if not all the organization we currently use. Turning a neat idea into a fully organized library of metadata. And then he also made an evil Mega Man Legends set so there's that.

jackolantern: One of the original Admins on RA, the Great Jacko was one of the first faces you likely saw upon diving into the RA chat room that was on the main page of the site, or in the RA steam group, the RA reddit, or if you streamed RA on twitch. Jacko was the original Community Manager of RA and although today he's mostly remembered for his basic gameboy sets he was a major part of retaining early users during RAs first era. Also fun story we did the Great Jacko event to take his sets from progression only to complete and Staff was very concerned he'd be offended. I tracked him down and not only did he love the idea he wanted the badge on his profile.

Jamiras: If Luchaos is the sultan of Web, then Jamiras is the bird one eyed monster guy of Emulation. A lover of point and click adventures like King's Quest, but also a lover of Dragon Quest. Jamiras is one of the few to be involved on the back end side that also games too. Always in a competitive leaderboard spot but never one to just take free points. Jamiras also appears anytime you say his name just like Beetlejuice, and if you say it three times he opens a Github issue on YOU!

Jenettebaghead: Not every user jumps to the top immediately for Jenette it was a slower burn but you could see her coming a mile away. Back when the PSP released there was this user attacking the PSP rpg library like a maniac. We'd come to know her soon after as she joined the Art Helper team. From there Jenette began doing thankless tasks like fixing incorrectly sized icons. It was around here that she started getting involved with badge sets and then dipped her feet into the JR dev program. She was off at that point. Destroying major rpg sets, shes now made a major rpg set, she crushes badges, and a new member of the Events Team. Whats next for Jenette? At this point not much stands in her way as one of RA's rising stars.

jplima: The man with the Yu Yu Hakusho avatar was a master dev of fighting games. Jplima has been a quiet but friendly beacon in the deving community before the Jr Dev program even existed. Most of the fighting games for a long time were only made by this man and Mega Man X6 but we won't hold that against him. In recent years though he got busy and with that a slowdown that became as of now the end of his great dev career. Now we just have to hope he has some more quarters to come back and play again.

kdecks: There was a dark era at Retroachievements when the site was on its last legs. Kdecks was the spearhead with a few others in a last ditch effort to start this discord, and try to revive a completely dead developer team getting us to 20 developers. Discord not only took off to bring people back as a save haven when the site was burning from outages, N64 came, and developers exploded all the way to 50 and beyond. Not every move was loved, but kdecks is the reason you are still here today. In terms of site legacy you couldn't do this list without him.

Keltron3030: Although now having left RA for the family life in his red corvette, Keltron is a former admin and head Code Reviewer that was also one of the original code reviewers. Keltron has seen titans rise from Jr Dev, those that lost their way, and those that never made it out of there. For a good 3 and a half years he helped generate a new era of developer. He also found time to don the costume at night and steal the wives of all softcore players, yes Softcore Players thats where your wife went!

KickMeElmo: The help channel has been around for awhile but it is the home of Help Me Hero Elmo. No other user has provided as much assistance to other users as Elmo and it is a near constant amount of helping. For a long time Elmo wanted to go dev to make Legaia but it wasn't in the cards. Elmo does many other behind the scenes things especially involving our hashing and previous hash log. One day though Elmo made an evil emote of himself that slaughters those that link garbage hashes.

KingS1zzle: Sizzle is the king of misinformation, the dabbler of video games, a real life rollerblader, #1 PSP Dev (Don't question it), and master of playing every video game like its Sonic (gotta go fast). Sizzle is the former head of the Icon Gauntlet who then became the first leader of the Art Team. He then became a Code Reviewer, worked on a translation, and you are bound to see him deving in one of his patented Sizzle Dev Seasons. A lover of art, founder of kiwi craze, and most likely to celebrate a Birthday.

ladynadiad: Years ago a lone warrior set out to mark the history of an Ys V set but they put the coding pen down and faded into history. Years later the warrior known as ladynadiad returned hearing of the fabled Falcom Gang. Not only did they re-enter modern Cheevo society but they took up the development sword again and righted the wrongs of the past. Along the way joining such guilds as DevQuest, QA, Code Reviewer, and Pie of the Month Club. Now Nadia stands as a Lady of the Development Sword, a legendary warrior recognized as Comeback Warrior of the Year.

leiradel: Leiradel was the man behind RetroArch support being a thing. Scott is the one that can speak best here
"An absolute hero in my eyes, he pioneered and integrated RetroAchievements support into RetroArch. Without this work a huge amount of the community wouldn't have known about this community. A surprising number of the community first became aware of RA after spotting the 'achievements' tab in RetroArch itself! A hugely important part of RA, thank-you so much Leiradel!"

LogicalFallacy: A guy that accidentally wandered into the server who got interested in AotW and from there joined Jr Devs and graduated to the dev they are today. Whats fascinating about Devquest team member LogicalFallacy is while most devs hover to a system or dev they love usually, he instead got into the madness of Devquest 15 and has the most scattershot variety of systems and games any dev has. One of the devs on the list with the most upside you can ask whats next?

LootusMaximus: Ever goto #twitch-streams and see that people went live? Ever earn Aotw and just magically get that role? Ever get really bored and type WG5 (what game 5) to get five random games assigned to you? Well you may not know of Lootus but you've been using his bot! Lootus is one of our botmasters behind the Spam&Eggs bot, and while we have many bots now for a time it was one of the only ones we ever used. Lootus now hangs out in the cool engineers club or eating a sandwich in Events Team HQ always ready to repair.

lordpsycho: One of RA's most prolific developers is a name you see on sets but not much else. I'd call lordpsycho a force of game development able to drop all timer sets like Chinatown Wars on us and the next week bust out another Rhythm classic. A user that's written more for RANEWS in the past than he has likely on discord ever. Lordpsycho is one of RA's greatestest silent contributors.
There is nothing that sums him up like his own motto
"Get things done -> Fix/Improve -> Repeat"
Maybe that or the fact he believes we should all play more rhythm games.

luchaos: If Jamiras is the emulator backbone of RA, Luchaos is the web background. Although he doesn't play a ton of games he does have a passion for a few titles not on RA that his challenge is inspired by: Mirror's Edge and Titanfall 2. As for RA what can you even say here. Luchaos brought this server from a falling apart decaying house to what it is today. Yes it took longer than he would have liked but as it stands RA is a few speedbumps away from a second Golden Era.

malasdair: The unassuming RAWR veteran player and former Code Reviewer has taken a step back lately but this is about celebration of overall time. Malasdair is the organizational backbone of DevCompliance his fellow team members touted proudly. One of the nicest, systematic devs on the site who is a proud card carrying member of #FalcomGang

MaxMilyin: You may know Max or GameSquadSquad as the top gamer on RA, the #1 scorer and the third to hold that title since RA's debut ten years ago. Max is an actual IRL comedic former wrestler known as El Sandwich, his gimmick was to beat you with what essentially was a hoagie and have the filling fly out everywhere. If you ever watched his stream you'd know that Max goes for his masteries, eats pizzas one handed, and downs his weekend beverages with the mouth of a sailor. While many big personalities in small ponds have a cocky attitude, Max is far from that. One of the most genuinely nice people you can meet on RA. He avoids the drama, he's always asking how he can help get that message out there, and there isn't a stream that goes by he isn't promoting the charity he is involved with. A charity he's a part of with other streamers to raise money for great causes like suicide prevention. Max may not always remain the #1 gamer on site but that doesn't matter considering the legacy he has left behind.

https://www.twitch.tv/another_charity_event/

meleu: Meleu is a former head admin of RA succeeding kdecks in the position, and the other co-founder of RANEWS. Meleu helped bring back the Brazillian community back to RA. Meleu is also credited with having reformed staff, helped support the founding of the original RA Podcast, and helped launch the QATeam.

minibt: In many respects the King of Playstation games on RA. Mini has held the crown for most masteries on PS1, and PSP for many months. Although lately he let the PS1 crown slip, hes also been #4 on the PS2 mastery list. Mini is also known as the dev of one of the worst games ever released on RA, the rare Unwanted game completely ignored....Rocket Power Team Rocket Rescue. This year Mini joined the events team and has been an MVP helping with challenge league, seriously hes a star. Just stay away from his psp masteries and make more psp sets, thanks.

MrOwnership: MrO is the lord of the Google Doc, The Sultan of Excel, and the High Chancellor of Cool Data. Anyone on any team in the know, knows he is a wizard. Don't be fooled by his incredible muscles in his profile, the Editor in Chief of RANEWS is a mastermind of Data and Stats. MrOwnership values work ethic above all and has taken chances that have paid off on users that are a bit wild when there is promise of work ethic. He is also a lover of Homebrew and watches the scene like a hawk. Many credit MrO's constant spread of Homebrew as a reason the category blew up in recent years.

Mutawarrior: Muta was one of the early Twitch Streamers of RA that stuck around and developed games on site. He was an early social influencer that brought in users from the twitch space to the RA space. He was more of a fan of the old school github work as you feel like mentality where you pick at sets. He eventually did get done a some sets for RA that are some of the most all time played sets. A representation of the 2014-2018 era when we only had less than ten developers he was one that gave us the goods in a very primitive era.

NgNvNn:
DEMON FANG
DEMON FANG
DEMON FANG
Whoa I'm a genius, its NGNVNN! How do you even pronounce that? A lover of RPGS, big bombastic sets, and From Software games. Although he vanished without a trace or reason when he was here he delivered hit after hit of big time RPG action that left a mark.

Nydaxn: The legendary artist and current lead of the Art Team. Nydaxn is the creator of Cheevo and RAChan, the artist behind many many RANEWS covers, the badge artist behind many of your favorite rpgs, and most importantly a game gear fan. Nydaxn is one of those actual talents RA is blessed to have even part time. His #1 goal to remain the Champion of Game Gear masteries.

pinguupinguu: Pinguu has come a long way from the Jr Dev that Spory wouldn't let graduate. He has since become a Code Reviewer, Mod, and inheireted the title of most likely to put a Sudoku or Picross set. That's actually where Pingu's unheralded work shines best. Pingu almost single handidly fixed the majority of a broken devs sets during a mini cleanup called Monkey Magic. Recently he has been a driving force in helping rewrite the CoC to modern times and a major advocate for getting the communities voice on upcoming changes. He also likes long walks in Antartica.

Pudpod: Pudpod is the guy who likes to stay in the background, he doesn't want the limelight or the credit. Infact he probably will be pretty upset about this intro paragraph at all. The unsung hero of achievement of the week that kept the event alive with his passion he masks as stubborness that kept that event afloat when it was at its bleakest. A dev that graduated and cut his teeth with the freedom of dev and improved his craft, who was a quiet but big contributor to the Set Repair Team. Pudpod is the definition of an RA workhorse whether its working to help the site, help an individual or playing all 326 Endings of Shadow the Hedgehog he is just too stubborn to stop but that also means nothing can stop him if you let him go.

pulsexp: Pulse or Frank is a well known staple in the RA community. Recently he was granted citizenship in the Top 200 of RA, but he has been streaming for years trying to master whatever the community throws at him. This Cincinatti Bengals fan has done what other streamers have and gotten people that discover him into the community and a few devs today are here because of him. Marketing RA is tough and streamers like Frank do this all while living a busy life. Our beanies off to him

Ryudo: Lufia fan, A longtime Code Reviewer, member of the Events Team, long time dev and pretty much the reason we got Playstation 2 on RA. Ryudo was the link that made the chain that married RA to the PS2 and started a whirlwind rollout that lasted almost the entirety of 2022. As a PS2 superfan it's a fitting point for his standing legacy to be involved in Playstation 2 coming to RA.

Salsa: The original queen of set design and revisions. Like her work or hate it Salsa did a ton of work for RA for the first half of the ten years of its existence. A former admin whose passion for developing sets went farther than her ability to finish all the claims she wanted to do (and she did a ton of sets). Salsas penchant for overclaiming is what led to the claim system limit being established. Many many things can be traced back to Salsa but as times moved forward so did she and left for greater gaming plains out there. Salsa in her prime on this site was a positive force to be reckoned with.

Sarconius: The Jump King himself is a twitch streamer that mostly does RA Mastery Requests putting himself into constant horrible situations of self torture. He is one ofthe top gamers on the site, and the site's Pinball Wizard. Seriously he is the master of the genre and will not rest til every pinball game bows before him. As a streamer he is one of RA's greatest marketers showcasing the good, bad, and insanely difficult RA has to offer.

Scott: Are you reading this? Well that is only because Scott created RetroAchievements. Scott Davies created RetroAchievements while working for Activision on the game 007 Reloaded. A young game developer put in charge of explosives for the multiplayer mode, in his spare time he created the idea after seeing how the achievement/trophy system worked on Xbox 360/Playstation 3. The site would launch in Alpha in 2012 with the first set Sonic 1 which we are playing today launched in November 2012. Yes RA has turned 10 years old recently and now supports over 50 systems. RA also has its own podcast, retro magazine, and constant events going on site. Over 1000 games release on RA every year now with over 1500 unique users daily.

Searo: LAST TIME ON SEARO BALL Z. Searo was Sensu Beaned from the grave and returned to play Sexy Pachinko! But thats not all he then reached a new level, QAMaintainer. Now he fights crime but only inbetween hardcore challenge league sessions hell bent on developing cool games and drinking juice.

SherryBirkin: During her time as a dev Sherry put out a lot of fighting games, but her biggest legacy is the love she gave with the Ace Attorney sets. Sometimes someones footprint is big at the time and fades away when they leave fast. That was it for Sherry. When she was here she was putting out lots of sets people really enjoyed and talked about. Sherry was big on the closeknit dev community and wanted to bring everyone together. Shes been gone for over two years now since suffering some personal tragedy but one can hope that someday she can return to RA and fulfill her dream.

Shmelyoff: What is a man? A great developer who has put out by far the best Castlevania sets on the site. Mr Castlevania himself has given us more Metroidvania to do than anyone can handle. Otherwise you can find Shmely hanging with his Ninja sets and love of Darkwing Duck. Shmely has also served as a long term Code Reviewer and is the one who actually killed Dracula in history. True Facts.

SlashTangent: A long time ago on a twitch stream far far away there was this angry cat man who tried to beat all N64 games. He had been looking for something new after a career change to sink his teeth in. I tried pitching RA to him, and he went Nope. Fast forward some time again and he found himself on the site, so I pitched getting involved at RA from a different angle of developing. This led to him getting an addiction to tickets and five trips to rehab later he can't shake the ticket manager. Slash has been a ticket manager, QA, a code reviewer, and a cat. He likes long walks in N64 and someday will become a Monster Hunter irl and show us all. He already has a palico.

Snow: No one has reset their points more than the artist formerly known as. Snow came and left but eventually threw his life away to a lifetime sentence of delicious rpg sets when he joined the Jr Developer program. From there Snow built up a resume in the community thru Code Reviewer and Set Repair Team which led to him joining the QATeam. After that Snow joined moderation and eventually administration. The best story though might be when he tried to convince everyone he was gonna have oodles of free time when his kid was born. He lost that battle but along the way it's made him a better leader and a developer prepared for any obstacle. If you had to list top 5 developers all time for RA, Snow is an instant stamp in giving us some of the biggest sets RA has ever had in the last few years. Just keep the gacha games away from him before he gets addicted to another!

Soulsderfuchs: Souls likes cleaning up unorganized things, horror games, and slowly wiping out all missing content. He hates Mondays.

SporyTike: One day we randomly got Watara Supervision support out of nowhere almost as a joke. A few people claimed something but then Sting got loud in dev chat egging on everyone to take a set like an unofficial rollout. Many devs did but then something changed in Sporys heart and he couldn't stop and ended up developing 31 games! Spory is an admin, Mod, DevCompliance guy, Head of Code Reviewers, Creator of Communiplay, RANEWS member, and probably a few other things I have forgotten. Spory had done more than Wataramania and has delivered some of the biggest sets on the site and a bunch of very obscure games like McDonalds Employee Game.

StingX2: A user from the ancient times of the wild west of RA. Taught how to dev by Scott himself with a huge passion towards community engagement and wanting to make RA the best it can possibly be.

Suffa28: Suffa is the hidden ninja of the RA community. He's been around for years, he's either a mod or longtime viewer of many twitch streams, a master of the sacred art of SMZ3 Combo Rando, and an RA moderator. As a developer Suffa has mostly dabbled with the RPGS and his favorite franchises. He hasn't branched out much as a gamer having only played SotN for the first time in the last few years. What Suffa offers is a constintency and helpfulness to RA that just goes under the radar becaue he is an actual ninja.

suspect15: Suspect joined RA in 2021, a year later became a developer, and a year after that is a Code Reviewer, DevQuestier, and member of QA Maintainence. Suspect is the perfect example of a user that is important to the back half of RA History (2017 Fall to present). Suspect is a passionate dev with some complex sets and rare droppers.

tatoonie: For years RA was always a desert when it came to fighting games that weren't the 'big ones'. Sure we had plenty of Street Fighter and King of Fighters and Mortal Kombat...but then entered A NEW CHALLENGER. Tatoonie brought back a passion to fighting games on RA giving life to sets like Rival Schools, Bloody Roar, Kamen Rider and so much more. Although Tatoonie was only active in small blips when he had free time he single handidly fleshed out a genre that was surface level only at RA. Game Set!

Tayadaoc: Taya is a hardcore old school Sega lover that scoffs at the more modern systems. They just don't exist! When asked about the PS2 rollout Taya asked why not Phantasy Star 2. One of the few passionate users about the Game Gear rollout and a long time dev. Taya participates in many events and is a mainstay of the Top Event leaderboard as she slowly crawls to the top of that list.

TeddyWestside: In my opinion one of the coolest developers that you never hear about. Teddy loves his collectathons, and he's really happy that you as a community enjoy his sets. He has pumped out many classic sets on PS2 and PSP lately, but hes also one of the rare devs that actually embraced Sports games before the Devquest made it cool.

televandalist: The modern era just would not be the same without televandalist. He is one of the sites most prolific developers, an established event host, the mind behind QA, and so much more. Never forget the time tele buried himself in the hash log to sort out all the junk and cheated hashes that plagued the site for years. Tele is literally a figure so important to the website that many things come to a crashing halt without him. That being said he likes dishing pain and seeing as he is 64 feet tall and used to smacking his head on ceilings hes delivering pain to you with this challenge!

TheMysticalOne: Once upon a midnight dreary of RA a Wizard lived among the mortal men. He wrote down tales of his adventures for the others to enjoy title the Ultima. But then the Wizard ran out of stories and decided to live his life, he would hear the stories of his homeland but it wasn't until a Quest was announced across the land that the Wizards interest was peaked once again. 'The DevQuest' brought the Wizard back and then he was inspired not to just tell tales of old but teach the future, shape the future. Build the bridge of tomorrow.

timenoe: Group 2 features our old bird and our new bird, Timenoe has been here for a solid two years and has made his mark as the new Chocobo guy and like the old chocobo guy has risen to a high rank, in this case DevCompliance. Amongst developers he has put out some sets that really have taken off with a cult following: Not Just a Hat Rack, Always Awakening, Irritating Stick, and Glover. Which is alongside his Tony Hawk and Chocobo series contributions.

VenHur: Former RA Discord Streamer of the Year, Ven The Man Hur is one of the positive users on the site. It's not always what you do to improve the site sometimes you improve it by just being that positive guy everyone can guarantee will show up. Did you just drop a new set? Guaranteed VenHur is popping off in your honor in general chat. Did you make that new Disney set Ven just mastered? Expect an epic writeup in ode to you. Ven is aware he beats to his own drum but its a comforting drum like Stoop Kid never leaving his stoop, or that guy that always plays an instrument in the subway.

voiceofautumn: Best known these days for the Retro Olympics or even AS RetroOlympics. Voice is a long time developer who is near the top of dev stats but is the resident GBA loving dev on the site. Known as much for his wacky webcam adventures in VC by some as his love for GBA. Voice can be very outspoken but has survived while others havent most due to his incredible passion for the site.

WanderingHeiho: If you ever need to find this man just goto #raroulette he makes his home there. A very under rated developer who if you ask anyone around him thats gotten to work with him, or see his sets has nothing but praise. Passionate about events and willing to try new things, "this lone wolf is the friendliest you'll find out there" one user wrote in the submissions round a few months ago.

WCopeland: One day a young man was walking the streets of New York when a barrell hit him square in the face. He would be in an intense coma for months but when he awakened that fateful day he had the power of KONG inside him. He could not just play a simple arcade game, he could see the barrels, he could feel them. Years after the KONG scene dried up he heard from an old Gorilla about a mythical place where gamers still celebrated the KONG of old but earning achievements. The man no longer young spent time finding this place and what he found was a celebrated community but one in need of help. Luckily the radioactive barrell that bit him also gave him the ability to make cool features for RA. Without Mr Copeland we wouldn't have had the influx of new things in such a massive rush. It is a blessing to have him around.

WilHiteWarrior: The dad joke king of RA was so well known for it he had his own personal role! Starting as the sites ticket manager then getting mod and eventually admin. Wilhite was on a journey truly to develop a set list of games from his youth (mostly metal gear) and then was set to leave. But then we got psp so he had to stay and then he was off... and then we got PS2 so he had to stay longer. And before another Metal Gear filled system could be announced for RA, he tipped his hat and went off into the Alaskan Wilderness.

Xeinok: The creator of 100Pals may not seem like he has a huge RA prescense but its thanks to his help that we have the basis of our current CoC. Now we have strayed far from the universal standard that other hunting communities used but his contributions are important enough to be recognized. Aside from that he likes working out, living in multiple places, and earning endless Steam achievements. In recent times hes been more active in the community for the first time in ages, and if your a dev you'll get a laugh out of his challenge as you've likely seen many of these posts.

xnaivx: In under two years xnaivx has been a quiet but strong developer releasing a few but big sets. Their real contributions have been their dedication in revisions, rescores, tickets, Code Reviewer, Ticket Hound, and Set Repair Team. All these things go hand in hand with output xnaivx gives putting the fixing of the site above the output he could easily do as dev. The future of RA will always be tied to fixing the past, and without xnaivx we would be in much worse shape.

Xymjak: The keeper of the top 300 players is known more for his love of backbreaking challenging achievements. A master of the RPM and chaser of retro points. Xymjak is a gamer on the quest for as much perfection as they can grab with a 94.68% completion rate. A gamer that believes in honesty and that cheaters should be yes removed. Xymjaks scripts were beloved and its a wonder he doesn't try development, maybe he would then chase developer perfection. Always timing his exploits how long will it take you to Get Good and finish the Xymjak challenge!

YOU: The lifeblood of RetroAchievements. You, the player!

zxmega: Zxmega is one of the fighting devs under the heavens. Zxmega is passionate about great fighting game sets and is one of the few devs willing to collaborate with others to get more of them on the streets.

This Month's New Challenges - October:

===============
Alena: Alena is hands down one of the more legendary set designers on the site. Her care given to every sets design rivals the best developers in sites history. Matched with great art, and obscure choices of games you've likely never heard of. Some of my favorite times on this site have been playing thru her sets.

Gamer: Beat A Majority Developed Alena Set assigned to you at random
(57 Sets as of this writing, only one that you can't get is Vectorman)
(Credit will be given if you roll something you already beat)

OR

Developer: Develop a set for a game that features Brazil in some way.

===============

Gamer: Beat X Robot Masters from the Classic Mega Man Series (1-8) ~ X is a number given at random between 1 and 48

Non-Robot Master bosses such as Wily Bosses, Mega Man Killers, Stardroids, Intro Stage Bosses are not eligible
Subsets, Power Battle, and Fighters are not eligible
GB games, Wily Wars, Sequel Wars, and Mega Man & Bass are ok.
Rom Hacks are OK if the bosses are from the first 8 Mega Man games
If you beat Bomb Man in one game, you cannot beat Bomb Man in the same set on a different difficulty. (Looking at you Powered Up)
If Mega Man 9 and 10 are ever added to RA these bosses become eligible
Random number can only be rerolled with a save state for a ticket

OR

Developer: Do one of these
Repair A Set that is Broken: Create a patch that patches out a debug mode for a set that's ruining it
OR
Repair a set needing repair for DQ2 that Devquest team approves of

===============

Gamer: Earn 25 different Damageless achievements
(Can be the same game, no prior credit)

OR

Developer: Develop a set for a SHMUP!

===============

Gamer: Earn a challenge run achievement/beat a challenge run subset
(Professor Oak Runs excluded)
Regulation Red runs must be full runs (Defeat the Elite 4)
Regulation Red Solo runs must use starters or their evolutions

OR

Developer: Create 30 non-standard leaderboards
(In this context a standard leaderboard would be slapping a timer/points counter on a game that already has one).
We're looking for creative leaderboards, like this: https://retroachievements.org/leaderboardinfo.php?i=2009

===============
freezestar: Freezestar was just your typical average gamer who found a haunted achievement of the week. But then he solved the magic achievement of the month award and became a Beetleborg! I mean he got invited to Events team where freezestar has not only run his own popular Mario Party event but has been a prominent member and outright MVP of the team. Events team goes because of people like freezestar.

Gamer: Earn 30 Freeze Stars through any combination of the following repeatable challenges:

Earn an Achievement of the Week (No Flikki Free Pass): 2 FS
Earn an Achievement of the Month (No Flikki Free Pass): 8 FS
Earn a featured RAWR achievement: 1 FS

Earn a silver token in The Unwanted: 4 FS
Earn a gold token in The Unwanted: 6 FS

Many devs did but then something changed in Sporys heart and he couldn't stop and ended up developing 31 games! Spory is an admin, Mod, DevCompliance guy, Head of Code Reviewers, Creator of Communiplay, RANEWS member, and probably a few other things I have forgotten. You may have noticed thats only 99 names above well thats because there is one more part of joining

the 100th person?

It's YOU:
You by playing this event have shown you are an important part in RAs future. We can celebrate 10 years of the past but without your active participation this site doesn't move forward. Whats stopping you from becoming whatever you want?

If you **aren't** on the list of 99, Your mission is to make a challenge to give to other people just like you see the others have been presented, you won't be doing your own challenge for the record.

The competition will be open to everyone
The '100' are themed challenges based off users of the past ten years, but the challenges are for all

The competition will be open all year to join starting at 1/1/2023 server time :D
