Back in early November users were given a survey about who they thought was important to RA. We took that to events team, we got some input from Scott as well, and we widdled the list down. It took weeks to really shape the list and it easily could have had 50 more users. We tried to have a list of current and historical users that contributed.

Our criteria was contribution
-Development
-Moderation
-Administration
-Art
-Writing/Editing
-Community and Social Prescense

So each person on this list is represented with a gamer challenge and a developer challenge option for those wanting to mix and match. The Event will start 1/1/2023 with 10 challenges available to take on at your own pace during 2023.

Bendyhuman: My first interaction with Bendy was hearing him on the RAPodcast Test Episode and I gave Shootzyy the note "This Bendy guy has a lot of interesting stuff to say but he sounds too fake, like hes hiding behind himself". Bendy started to really improve fast and became the podcast favorite. But it wasn't until I approached him about hosting an event that the shell started cracking and Bendy really started showing his potential. Even if Master Quest was a flop Bendy came out of his shell bouncing back immediately with Peak Streak. The event was a success and from there Bendy took the next step introducing Daily Distractions which we are currently three seasons deep on its massive success. Last year he was approached to lead the new Events Team and honestly as he makes more and more strides Bendy has proven himself tenfold as a pillar of this community that is able to lead and help retain users on this site. Now imagine what he's cooking up next!

Bigweedsmokerman
Bl4h8L4hBl4h: Sorry flashfire, Bl4h is *The* most famous Aussie of RetroAchievements. As a developer, it took awhile but Bl4h found his calling in the homebrew and rhythm game scene. His passion for that indie calling has really become the driving force in his developing of games, that and Saturn fighters.

Blazekickn
Blendedsea
Brian: Although he has moved on to other interests, Brian was a cornerstone of RAs first half of its existence. An admin, and master developer he didn't develop many sets but the ones he did are some of the most popular all time on RA. Brian also took many developers under his wing and helped them in their journey. He was a grumpy guy but also the guy in chat who'd drop his hat to help you. Just don't whine his challenge achievements are too hard!

Bryan1150
caricatur
Celerryy
cirellio: The old bird I mentioned in another writeup. Cirellio was the first big dev RA ever had and an early admin, while today we are spoiled with many quality devs, back in the early days of RA when a Cirellio set dropped the entire site screeched to a halt. He didn't do many sets during his time (Only 5) but they were sets so comprehensive and ahead of their time with a toolkit that was holding him back. When tele repaired/updated the FF6 set what he found was that the set was just limited by what we could do back in 2014, it wasn't bad by any stretch. Unfortunately when the site started to really have issues in 2016 Cirellio left the site and then shortly after that vanished from the internet altogether. Here on RA though he will always be aq critical part of the early era of the site.

Cobaltzeroni
cochese788 (aka ShaneVsGame): If I were to tell you the longest tenured promoter of a streamer streaming RA was, you'd probably guess Max but its actually Cochese. Hes been streaming RA since he joined the site and has led many over the years to getting into the site. Of course by playing lots of RA hes been a fixture in the top standings for years, just don't rescore his points!

DanielARP
DarknessZedzi
Delmaru: Very few developers of the past make sets, leave and then come back. When they do they usually throw a fit but not Delmaru. They rejoined as a Junior Developer and took it on the chin with all the issues of the past their sets haunted them with. Delmaru came out of that with a revised Diddy Kong Racing set that then got tested immediately in Achievement of the Month and came out sparkling. Delmaru has since been one of the stronger developers on this site and served for a time as a Code Reviewer. One look at their claims showcases they aren't anywhere near done as they continue to drop "A" Quality sets month after month.

Dexterspet
DoctorV: Don't let the quiet Swedish DoctorV fool you. They have been a longtime code reviewer, member of Devquest, member of QA and a very strong developer. But it is no surprise their love of My Little Pony is a center focus of their challenges.

Donutweegee
Draco655
Etron
Excessiveiser
Falcus: A user of old that got involved finally on the site this year making dev and code reviewer. He has taken development by storm and owes the community every Armored Core set that can be made. Sorry dems the rules! Other than that Falcus has an extreme passion for ticket fixing and overall repair.

Fbernkastelkues/BenGhazi
Fridge
Galacticspear/matheus
Gamedragon
Gde
Ghal416
Gollawiz
guineu: If you ask those in the know who the best Dev was in site history for the amount of output and how little got tickets, it would be Guindev the alter ego of Guineu. He was developer for only slightly over a year and put out 84 sets across 41 different systems. Even without this feat he has been a top 10 hell top 5 gamer for years and a user that has always provided great help when reporting tickets. He may have left dissatisfied on his own terms but that doesn't take away from the insane legacy he left as a dev and the one he continues to have as a gamer.

Hardt
Heintsi
Hippopotamusrex
Holyshinx
Hotscrock: Mod, admin, and leapfrog enthusiast. Hotscrock has been a pillar in the community for years, and while most day to day users will only see them playing various events to stay ahead of tele in event badges won. Behind the scenes Hots is hard at work at keeping the upper echelon teams on the site organized and on task.

Ikki5 and Flara (Flikki)
Infernox: Although not as active these days we got to where we are now with some very important aspects because of the work Infernox put in. The Site Cleanup team was Infernox's biggest contribution to the site, creating not only a sub team dedicated to helping fix little things on the site but also opening channels to encourage any user to suggest such fixes. This changed things from relying on just QA to settle it to an entire workforce patching little bits of the site without needing to pester anyone. Then there is the hub work Infernox put in, taking the project over he established many if not all the organization we currently use. Turning a neat idea into a fully organized library of metadata. And then he also made an evil Mega Man Legends set so there's that.

jackolantern: One of the original Admins on RA, the Great Jacko was one of the first faces you likely saw upon diving into the RA chat room that was on the main page of the site, or in the RA steam group, the RA reddit, or if you streamed RA on twitch. Jacko was the original Community Manager of RA and although today he's mostly remembered for his basic gameboy sets he was a major part of retaining early users during RAs first era. Also fun story we did the Great Jacko event to take his sets from progression only to complete and Staff was very concerned he'd be offended. I tracked him down and not only did he love the idea he wanted the badge on his profile.

LogicalFallacy: A guy that accidentally wandered into the server who got interested in AotW and from there joined Jr Devs and graduated to the dev they are today. Whats fascinating about Devquest team member LogicalFallacy is while most devs hover to a system or dev they love usually, he instead got into the madness of Devquest 15 and has the most scattershot variety of systems and games any dev has. One of the devs on the list with the most upside you can ask whats next?

Pudpod: Pudpod is the guy who likes to stay in the background, he doesn't want the limelight or the credit. Infact he probably will be pretty upset about this intro paragraph at all. The unsung hero of achievement of the week that kept the event alive with his passion he masks as stubborness that kept that event afloat when it was at its bleakest. A dev that graduated and cut his teeth with the freedom of dev and improved his craft, who was a quiet but big contributor to the Set Repair Team. Pudpod is the definition of an RA workhorse whether its working to help the site, help an individual or playing all 326 Endings of Shadow the Hedgehog he is just too stubborn to stop but that also means nothing can stop him if you let him go.

Pulsexp
Ryudo
Salsa
Sarconius
Scott
Searo: LAST TIME ON SEARO BALL Z. Searo was Sensu Beaned from the grave and returned to play Sexy Pachinko! But thats not all he then reached a new level, QAMaintainer. Now he fights crime but only inbetween hardcore challenge league sessions hell bent on developing cool games and drinking juice.

SherryBirkin
Shmelyoff
Slashtangent
Snowpin
Soulsderfuchs
Sporytike
Stingx2
Suffa28
Suspect15
Tatoonie
Tayadaoc
Teddywestside
televandalist: The modern era just would not be the same without televandalist. He is one of the sites most prolific developers, an established event host, the mind behind QA, and so much more. Never forget the time tele buried himself in the hash log to sort out all the junk and cheated hashes that plagued the site for years. Tele is literally a figure so important to the website that many things come to a crashing halt without him. That being said he likes dishing pain and seeing as he is 64 feet tall and used to smacking his head on ceilings hes delivering pain to you with this challenge!

Themysticalone
timenoe: Group 2 features our old bird and our new bird, Timenoe has been here for a solid two years and has made his mark as the new Chocobo guy and like the old chocobo guy has risen to a high rank, in this case DevCompliance. Amongst developers he has put out some sets that really have taken off with a cult following: Not Just a Hat Rack, Always Awakening, Irritating Stick, and Glover. Which is alongside his Tony Hawk and Chocobo series contributions.

Venhur
Voiceofautumn
WanderingHeiho: If you ever need to find this man just goto #raroulette he makes his home there. A very under rated developer who if you ask anyone around him thats gotten to work with him, or see his sets has nothing but praise. Passionate about events and willing to try new things, "this lone wolf is the friendliest you'll find out there" one user wrote in the submissions round a few months ago.

wilhitewarrior: The dad joke king of RA was so well known for it he had his own personal role! Starting as the sites ticket manager then getting mod and eventually admin. Wilhite was on a journey truly to develop a set list of games from his youth (mostly metal gear) and then was set to leave. But then we got psp so he had to stay and then he was off... and then we got PS2 so he had to stay longer. And before another Metal Gear filled system could be announced for RA, he tipped his hat and went off into the Alaskan Wilderness.

Xeinok
xnaivx: In under two years xnaivx has been a quiet but strong developer releasing a few but big sets. Their real contributions have been their dedication in revisions, rescores, tickets, Code Reviewer, Ticket Hound, and Set Repair Team. All these things go hand in hand with output xnaivx gives putting the fixing of the site above the output he could easily do as dev. The future of RA will always be tied to fixing the past, and without xnaivx we would be in much worse shape.

This Month's New Challenges - March:

===============
AlexGatao: Alex while he was here brought a very positive energy to things he did on RA. He was a huge fan of Zelda and Mega Man X content. Although not everyone is a fan of hacks on RA, he brought many great sets for those of us that do enjoy that style of game. I personally will never forget during the PS2 rollout Alex having to give up the Mega Man X Collection and no sweat handed over everything he did to the dev that took it over (code notes, save states, achievement logic, and icons). It ended up back in his hands after all when that dev bailed but in the end it was more important to Alex the set got out rather than it being his name on it.

Gamer: Beat a Zelda hack AND a Mega Man X hack with a set by AlexGatao (No demo, unlicensed, or ~Hack~ Legend of Zelda, The: Ocarina of Time - Spaceworld '97 BETA Experience (Nintendo 64) Legend of Zelda, The: Ocarina of Time - Spaceworld '97 BETA Experience (Nintendo 64) Hack)
(Free credit will be given for the hack type if a player has already completed every applicable set by AlexGatao)

Note: If a Mega Man X hack is freezing, try a core like bsnes Balanced 2014.

OR

Developer: Develop a set for a Mega Man X or Zelda hack (No Demos)

===============
AlmightyXor: It was a dark and cold dreary night when out of nowhere a Jr Dev appeared and took on the legend itself, the Legend of Dragoon. That would begin what has been a slow paced but extrodainary dev career launching hit after hit set. Xor of course makes mistakes but the level of care and design he puts into every little thing he does is a reason he is not only a top dev but was invited to the Web Team on RA. Xor is also the wise sage of Revision Discussion, since becoming a developer he has bolth read and gave serious input to almost every revision that has gone up. To a point discussions come to a halt when Xor speaks up, he doesn't have a stake in the game except for the greater benefit of RA. And that is the legend of the Almighty Xor! ~Woomy~

Gamer: Do 10 challenge achievements from 10 different games
-This includes challenges such as damageless, speedrun, deathless, collection, or other non-required objectives
-No Free Point Hub Games or Low Effort
(There is no free pass for this challenge)

OR

Developer: Develop a set involving Splatoon, Mochi, Kingdom Hearts, or Pokemon

===============
Blazekickn: There is a lot to unfold with the user known as Blazekickn. The key things to remember about Blaze is his love for juice, pokemon, and semi realistic semi arcadey racing. Blaze is certainly someone that can come off as opinionated, but deep down he cares a lot about RetroAchievements. He may drive the bus to the cliff but he'll never drive it over the edge. Like many loud personalities in life unless you use his talents they will go to waste. Blaze is always at his best when he is someone people looked too, a maybe grumpy teacher but one that when he puts his full force and effort into is a great resource RA is lucky to have.

Gamer: Do all of these
1. Beat a main Pokemon game (No spinoffs except for Pokemon Stadium--hacks are allowed unless noted below)
2. Beat a Need for Speed game
3. Master a 'Juice Game' (free points) you haven't mastered before from [Misc. - Free Points Seal of Approval] (Hubs) [Misc. - Free Points Seal of Approval] (Hubs)
4. EventsTeam will randomly assign a number between 1 and 151 that corresponds to a Pokemon. The player will then do that Pokemon's solo run from ~Hack~ Pokemon Regulation Red | Regulation Blue [Subset - Solo Challenge] (Game Boy) Pokemon Regulation Red | Regulation Blue (Game Boy) Hack SubsetSolo Challenge.
(Request a Pokemon on the forum or the Discord)

Note: These Pokemon games are not eligible
~Hack~ Pokemon Grand Dad Version (Game Boy Advance) Pokemon Grand Dad Version (Game Boy Advance) Hack
~Hack~ Grand Day Out, A (Game Boy Advance) Grand Day Out, A (Game Boy Advance) Hack
~Hack~ Hypno's Lullaby (Game Boy Advance) Hypno's Lullaby (Game Boy Advance) Hack
~Hack~ ~Demo~ Zelda: Sacred Paradox (Game Boy Advance) Zelda: Sacred Paradox (Game Boy Advance) Hack Demo

(Previous credit will only be given for task 2 if every Need for Speed game is already complete when finishing the rest of the tasks)

OR

Developer: Develop a set for any racing game

===============
GalacticSpear (aka matheus2653): When I think of users that really got a 2nd act I instantly think of Mr Spear here. This average apple juice drinker came back fresh as a gamer and a developer. Not running from any responsibility and taking even more on. Spear has brought us some of the best Subset/Bonus sets released on the site that have captivated the userbase. I can't remember any revision getting as much positive feedback as DKC or any subset getting the insane love Mega Man Powered Up subsets got. When I think of legacy of GalacticSpear I think of what he has brought to the revision game and how other devs have been inspired by it.

Gamer: Master ~Hack~ Rushed Project, A (SNES) Rushed Project, A (SNES) Hack
(If you already mastered this game, enjoy your free pass)

OR

Developer: Develop a set for any game that allows you to play as a common enemy species (Koopa, Waddle Dee, Firebrand, etc)

===============
Jenettebaghead: Not every user jumps to the top immediately for Jenette it was a slower burn but you could see her coming a mile away. Back when the PSP released there was this user attacking the PSP rpg library like a maniac. We'd come to know her soon after as she joined the Art Helper team. From there Jenette began doing thankless tasks like fixing incorrectly sized icons. It was around here that she started getting involved with badge sets and then dipped her feet into the JR dev program. She was off at that point. Destroying major rpg sets, shes now made a major rpg set, she crushes badges, and a new member of the Events Team. Whats next for Jenette? At this point not much stands in her way as one of RA's rising stars.

Gamer: Do one of the following
- Beat a mainline Final Fantasy game (No Mystic Quest, cannot combine with other challenges that ask you to beat a FF game)
- Master any Danganronpa Set
- Redo a badge set that has 50 achievements or more that needs it
- Earn this achievement: A Happy Mysterious Woman [m] A Happy Mysterious Woman [m] (25)
- Earn this achievement: The King of Jump Rope The King of Jump Rope (50) (This task is limited to one player overall--first come, first served) Congratulations donutweegee! The jump rope task is now closed.

(There is no previous credit for this challenge)

OR

Developer: Develop a set for an RPG
(Kudos for sneaking Stoat into an achievement badge)

===============
lordpsycho: One of RA's most prolific developers is a name you see on sets but not much else. I'd call lordpsycho a force of game development able to drop all timer sets like Chinatown Wars on us and the next week bust out another Rhythm classic. A user that's written more for RANEWS in the past than he has likely on discord ever. Lordpsycho is one of RA's greatestest silent contributors.
There is nothing that sums him up like his own motto
"Get things done -> Fix/Improve -> Repeat"
Maybe that or the fact he believes we should all play more rhythm games.

Gamer: Do all of the following
1. Beat a rhythm game with a set by lordpsycho (Unlocking all songs is "beating" Project Diva)
2. Get a new "Top 50" leaderboard highscore on 10 songs (medium or higher difficulty)
3. Get any 50 point achievement from Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? (PlayStation Portable) Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? (PlayStation Portable)
(Previous credit will only be given for task 1 if the player has already completed all of lordpsycho's rhythm games. All other tasks will have no free credit.)

OR

Developer: Develop a set starring some sort of magical girl

===============
MaxMilyin: You may know Max or GameSquadSquad as the top gamer on RA, the #1 scorer and the third to hold that title since RA's debut ten years ago. Max is an actual IRL comedic former wrestler known as El Sandwich, his gimmick was to beat you with what essentially was a hoagie and have the filling fly out everywhere. If you ever watched his stream you'd know that Max goes for his masteries, eats pizzas one handed, and downs his weekend beverages with the mouth of a sailor. While many big personalities in small ponds have a cocky attitude, Max is far from that. One of the most genuinely nice people you can meet on RA. He avoids the drama, he's always asking how he can help get that message out there, and there isn't a stream that goes by he isn't promoting the charity he is involved with. A charity he's a part of with other streamers to raise money for great causes like suicide prevention. Max may not always remain the #1 gamer on site but that doesn't matter considering the legacy he has left behind.

https://www.twitch.tv/another_charity_event/

Gamer: Do both of the following
1. Beat Snatcher (Sega CD) Snatcher (Sega CD), a favorite of Max he feels is underplayed
2. Color the 11th dinosaur in Color a Dinosaur (NES) Color a Dinosaur (NES) and show your work
(Credit will be given if you already completed Snatcher, but your coloring must be shown regardless)

OR

Developer: Do both of the following
1. Develop a set from Max's request list
2. Color the 11th ninja in ~Hack~ Color a Ninja (NES) Color a Ninja (NES) Hack and show your work

===============
Snow: No one has reset their points more than the artist formerly known as. Snow came and left but eventually threw his life away to a lifetime sentence of delicious rpg sets when he joined the Jr Developer program. From there Snow built up a resume in the community thru Code Reviewer and Set Repair Team which led to him joining the QATeam. After that Snow joined moderation and eventually administration. The best story though might be when he tried to convince everyone he was gonna have oodles of free time when his kid was born. He lost that battle but along the way it's made him a better leader and a developer prepared for any obstacle. If you had to list top 5 developers all time for RA, Snow is an instant stamp in giving us some of the biggest sets RA has ever had in the last few years. Just keep the gacha games away from him before he gets addicted to another!

Gamer: Earn 3 random Final Fantasy achievements generated by Snow's 'Final Fantasy Generator'™ (Request a roll here or on the Discord)
-Previously earned achievements may be rerolled for a new one; otherwise, there are no rerolls
(There is no previous credit for this challenge)

OR

Developer: Develop a set for a [Publisher - Squaresoft] (Hubs) [Publisher - Squaresoft] (Hubs), [Publisher - Square Enix] (Hubs) [Publisher - Square Enix] (Hubs), [Publisher - Enix] (Hubs) [Publisher - Enix] (Hubs), or [Publisher - Eidos Interactive] (Hubs) [Publisher - Eidos Interactive] (Hubs) game (No NSFW)

===============
tatoonie: For years RA was always a desert when it came to fighting games that weren't the 'big ones'. Sure we had plenty of Street Fighter and King of Fighters and Mortal Kombat...but then entered A NEW CHALLENGER. Tatoonie brought back a passion to fighting games on RA giving life to sets like Rival Schools, Bloody Roar, Kamen Rider and so much more. Although Tatoonie was only active in small blips when he had free time he single handidly fleshed out a genre that was surface level only at RA. Game Set!

Gamer: Clear the Arcade Mode of 30 different characters from as many fighting games as needed. You may use the same character from a different entry in the series. No stacking of multiple difficulties.
(There is no previous credit for this challenge)

OR

Developer: Develop a set for an Ultraman game, Kamen Rider game, or officially released fighting game

===============
Xymjak: The keeper of the top 300 players is known more for his love of backbreaking challenging achievements. A master of the RPM and chaser of retro points. Xymjak is a gamer on the quest for as much perfection as they can grab with a 94.68% completion rate. A gamer that believes in honesty and that cheaters should be yes removed. Xymjaks scripts were beloved and its a wonder he doesn't try development, maybe he would then chase developer perfection. Always timing his exploits how long will it take you to Get Good and finish the Xymjak challenge!

Gamer: Do both of the following
1. Earn 1 of these achievements:
- Hunter's Ordeal I: Strength Hunter's Ordeal I: Strength (100)
- Legendary Vampire Slayer Legendary Vampire Slayer (100)
- Centuries-Old Knowledge Centuries-Old Knowledge (100)
- South Island Superstar South Island Superstar (100)
- Splattering Splatterhouse IV Splattering Splatterhouse IV (100)

2. Master 1 of 5 randomly assigned sets from the Top 100 hardest games by retro ratio (Request a roll here or on the Discord)
- Players may request another roll after 2 months

(Previous credit will only be given for the first task if all 5 achievements have already been earned by the player)

OR

Developer: Develop a set from Xymjak's request list

FAQ

Beat = Get the ending by beating the main story or a defined goal
Master = All achievements unlocked in hardcore

Can I do both gamer and dev challenge

No, One or the other

If I do a dev roll and it blows ass can I do the gamer challenge or am I stuck

You can do the gamer challenge
RAEvents27 Dec, 2022 18:47(Edited 01 Jan, 2023 00:08)
You may have noticed thats only 99 names above well thats because there is one more part of joining

the 100th person?

It's YOU:
You by playing this event have shown you are an important part in RAs future. We can celebrate 10 years of the past but without your active participation this site doesn't move forward. Whats stopping you from becoming whatever you want?

If you **aren't** on the list of 99, Your mission is to make a challenge to give to other people just like you see the others have been presented, you won't be doing your own challenge for the record.

MAKE A POST FOR EACH SUBMISSION
