Spoiler (Click to show)
A PLATFORMING HOMEBREW WITH SOME FLOATY CONTROLS. THIS FELT LIKE FREEPOINTS FROM LEVEL 1-14 WITH PREDICTABLE ENEMIES MOVING IN PRE-DETERMINED LINES. THEY DON'T EVEN SHOOT AT YOU. GAME WAS SUPER EASY. ON MY FIRST ATTEMPT, I DID DEATHLESS AND NO-SNOWBALLS, BUT EMBARRASSINGLY LOST ALL MY 4 LIVES ON THE LAST BOSS. A COUPLE OF MINUTES OF OFFLINE PRACTICE LET ME KNOW HOW TO ACTUALLY MAKE SNOWBALLS (PRESS DOWN AND WAIT). LAST BOSS ISN'T HARD, BUT BEING GREEDY AND MIS-TIMING YOUR SNOWBALLS WILL KILL YOU. GETTING HIT ONCE EQUALS DEATH. LOSING ALL LIVES WILL GAMEOVER AND RESTART YOU TO THE TITLE SCREEN. IF YOU PLAY THIS, DON'T FORGET THAT THE SCREEN WARPS AROUND (JUMP LEFT -> APPEAR ON THE RIGHT).

321: ~Hack~ Gacha Hack (Game Boy Advance) ~Hack~ Gacha Hack (Game Boy Advance)

Spoiler (Click to show)
A SHITTY GACHA THAT PLAYS LIKE AN IDLE GAME. THERE'S NO GAMEPLAY, JUST A MENU TO WATCH ADS AND SUMMON CHARACTERS. NORMALLY I WOULD RATE THIS 0/5 BECAUSE OF THE RNG INVOLVED, BUT THIS ONE IS REALLY PEAK FRIENDLY. YOU CAN LEAVE THE GAME RUNNING ON FASTFORWARD + TURBO PASSIVELY WHILE DOING SOMETHING ELSE, AND HAVE ENOUGH CURRENCY TO GET A MASTERY WITHIN MINUTES. I ACTUALLY HELD DOWN MY TURBO BUTTON FOR 2 HOURS WHILE WATCHING A MOVIE OFF-SCREEN.
MY PC IS REALLY OLD, BUT I WAS ABLE TO REACH 1300 FPS WITH FF TURNED ON, WHICH LETS ME SUMMON ABOUT 1 CHARACTER PER 12 SECONDS. I WAITED UNTIL I HAD 8000 OF THE CURRENCY, ROLLED UNTIL I HAD 2000 LEFT, THEN I SAVESCUMMED MY WAY FOR THE MISSING CHARACTERS. AT THAT POINT, I HAD ONLY 1 CHARACTER LEFT FOR MOST STAR CATEGORIES. IT DIDN'T TAKE MORE THAN 5 OR SO ATTEMPTS TO GET ALL CHARACTERS.
THE GAME AUTOSAVES AT EACH ACTION TAKEN, SO SAVESCUMMING REQUIRES COPY-PASTING YOUR SAVE FILE INSTEAD OF A SIMPLE RESET.
IF YOU'RE WONDERING, NO, THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NOTHING RELATED TO FIRE EMBLEM IN HERE. IF YOU PLAY THIS, DON'T USE TURBO FOR SUMMONING, AS THAT WILL GLITCH THE GAME OUT AND LOCK ACHIEVEMENTS (JUST FF AND PRESS A NORMALLY).

Day 30: Secret of Monkey Island, The (Sega CD) Secret of Monkey Island, The (Sega CD)
Spoiler (Click to show)
The worst port of an otherwise fantastic game. I had played the Special Edition remake a few years back, but learned about a few easter eggs I had missed thanks to the achievement set.

Day 239: Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix (PlayStation 2) Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix (PlayStation 2)

@Bendyhuman Slept on it and I think this might be a stupid question now but leaving it up. I just realized that a game I had prepped (LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game (PlayStation 2) LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game (PlayStation 2)) had the achievement I purposely left unlocked made unofficial (only noticed it now because I was counting all my PS2 masteries for the Launch Event on Cheevohunter and noticed something was up). So, I have 29/29 achievements but I don't have the site award and my mastered total didn't bump up. Feels like it would count as a remaster instead of new mastery if I reset an achievement and earned it again (even though it would bump up my mastery total), but I might as well ask.

Spoiler (Click to show)
Ninth PS2 mastery and qualified for the Silver badge for the Launch event (10/15). I love the Kingdom Hearts series and Kingdom Hearts 1 is one of my favorite video games of all time (up there with Pokemon Yellow and the Smash Bros. series) so I knew I had to master this one once PS2 launched. I had high hopes for this set since FBernkastelKues and Delmaru are two great devs and, yeah, they killed it. This set perfectly encapsulated everything I could have wanted in a set. It has achievements for all the secrets/extras (even some that I didn't know about like Fungi Mystery (5) Fungi Mystery (5)), the boss challenges are both unique and really fun to do (A Return to Form [m] (25) A Return to Form [m] (25) easily the best main story boss challenge with how unique it is and how it reflects the growth of Sora and Riku from their first fight at the start of the game until now at the end), and the inclusion of achievements like Floating Through Space (5) Floating Through Space (5) or A Life Frozen in Time [m] (25) A Life Frozen in Time [m] (25) that require unique techniques I've seen hundreds of times from watching KH speedruns was super cool to do (well, Dumbo skip wasn't new to me but it was cool to see an achievement for it). Special shout out to this achievement What Doesn't Exist Can't Hurt You [m] (50) What Doesn't Exist Can't Hurt You [m] (50). Easily my favorite achievement of the set since learning the gravity loop and then executing it twice in the same fight was just so satisfying to finally do after several hours of practice and failure (actually created a second save just before the fight so I can do it whenever I want to because it was that fun and satisfying to do). The only critique I would give is that I think this achievement Involuntary Movement (5) Involuntary Movement (5) should only be for the solo fight with Ansem instead of the solo fight and the fight with Donald and Goofy since Mushu trivializes the challenge, but it doesn't change how I view this set at all.

Not Peak material by any means (in-game time after mastering was around the 55 hour mark), but I believe this is one of those games everyone should experience at least once in their life (just maybe after your streak is over). This game is just that amazing and I'm purposely avoiding writing a game review since I'll probably reach the character limit and still have more to say.

322: Burning Angels (PC Engine) Burning Angels (PC Engine)

Spoiler (Click to show)
AN ENJOYABLE VERTICAL SHMUP WITH GOOD MUSIC, SMOOTH CONTROLS WITH A DIFFICULTY THAT'S WASN'T TOO HARD NOR TOO EASY. THE CUTE GIRLS ON THE ICON MADE ME WANT TO MASTER THIS. A COUPLE THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE PICKING THIS GAME UP: THERE'S ONLY ONE SHIP, ONE LIFEBAR AND NO CONTINUES. THIS MIGHT SCARE OFF SOME, BUT THEY MADE IT REALLY GENEROUS WITH THE AMOUNT OF LIFE PICKUPS SCATTERED ACROSS LEVELS. YOUR SHIP IS REALLY TANKY, BEING ABLE TO TAKE A TON OF HITS BEFORE DYING (EXCEPT SOME PROJECTILES AND BOSS SPRITES WILL WREK YOU).

GETTING HIT WILL REMOVE ONE POWERUP LEVEL AT A TIME, BUT THE DEFAULT FIRE IS ENOUGH TO EASILY CARRY AN ENTIRE GAME. YOUR SHIP SPEED IS CONSTANT FROM START TO FINISH. GAME IS SHORT, TAKING 14 MINUTES FOR A FULL RUN.

THE BOSSES ARE THE EASIEST PART OF THIS GAME, BEING MADE VERY EXPLOITABLE WITH VARIOUS SAFESPOTS AVAILABLE TO TRIVIALIZE THEM.

I STILL HAD MANY RUNS DIE TO THESES BOSSES ON A FIRST ATTEMPT, WHICH I QUICKLY SOLVED WITH SOME SAVESTATE PRACTICE. I DIDN'T NOTICE MUCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NORMAL AND HARD MODE, OTHER THAN PROJECTILES COMING AT YOU SLIGHTLY FASTER. SINCE THE CHEEVS STACK, I RECOMMEND STARTING AND ONLY PLAYING ON HARD.

THE ONLY HARD CHEEV ON THIS SET WAS THE 500K SCORE ONE, WHICH TOOK ME MULTIPLE RUNS. THERE'S SOME UNINTUITIVE SCORING TRICKS THAT TOOK SOME TIME TO LEARN, LIKE SHOOTING THE INDESTRUCTIBLE ROCKS ON STAGE 3, AND KILLING ALL PARTS OF THE STAGE 4 MINIBOSS BEFORE KILLING THE CORE (OR YOU MISS ON ALMOST 100K). IF YOU'RE GOING FOR A HIGH SCORE, YOU CAN'T REALLY AFFORD TO MISS TOO MANY ENEMIES OR GET HIT (GETTING HIT WILL REMOVE ONE POWERUP, LOWERING YOUR RANGE OF FIRE). I WOULD SAY THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST PEAK FRIENDLY SHMUPS I'VE TRIED, WITH THE ONLY DOWNSIDE BEING THE ANNOYINGLY LONG VERTICAL PLAYER HITBOX.
