It's been a while since I've played this. First lap was awful, missed the boost start and made a few trips into the dirt. Could easily shave off a couple of seconds.

DK/Bowser ftw. They have the best top speed, so they're the best. Their low acceleration is unimportant due to the boost start, and their poor cornering is unimportant if you're good at hopping and powersliding.

was just testing out how this works, my console pr is 57"45 (see the smk players page rankings) and this 58"83 was done with a simple strat (not doing teh 2nd corner boost). Splits were 11"91, 82, 74, 75, 61. Its pretty cool that it instantly updates these tables with your times as you set them, would be even cooler if it could also link movies/videos at the same time, but I guess with all the different emulators being used and the extra bandwidth it would be hard to implement. Out of interest what are the rules here, I ask because looking at the DP1, BC2, RR and a few other #1 times it must have used a lapskip glitch or some other glitch/cheat as its faster than the wr for console done times that have been gound to death by top players over the last 30yrs. Not going to actively try on these leaderboards as I don't want to do glitch times. Thanks Moll

If it's not possible to cheat on these times then would this be a good alternative for the time trial leaderboard at mariokart64.com/smk ? Emulators are banned there, for obvious reasons

Well people are clearly using lapskips on some of these times which are not allowed on the main SMK TT leaderboards. They would be a way for people to keep track of their emulator times for sure, but in terms of a reliable leaderboard I have my doubts (especially since almost all the top players haven't even tried this site yet). But for a fun little side thing, sure
