Mastery #221: After having finished the Powered Up set and subset, I guess I had an interest in more of Mega Man 1. Hard Mode was a fun challenge for weapon management. Thanks for the set!

Mastered - This is a really good "beginner" Mega Man set for those who love the series, but are not skilled enough for the usual sets. There are none of the insane achievements you see in the regular Famicom set, so it's also a great handwarmer if you want to try that set as well. The pause trick is allowed in this one, so you can also use that if you'd like. However, this set was still a fun challenge. The boss attack mode was a great taste of speedrunning strategies, and Hard Mode was a fun test of my skills gained from Normal Mode. You ABSOLUTELY need to use the GameFAQs guide to navigate the menus if you don't know Japanese, but other than that it's a basic and fun Mega Man experience.

so, I was just trying to boot up this game once, when i was wondering why the start button wasn't working. I was pressing start, but it wouldn't start. (I was using a keyboard)

Well, I found out why it wasn't starting. It's because it was the Steam version of RetroArch, which didn't have the Japanese PS1 bios, so it wouldn't start. I had to find one on the Internet.

This looks like a fun set, so I'm looking forward to doing this. But just a heads-up for those who are playing the Steam version of RetroArch.

Mastered! This was such a relaxing set after doing Mega Man 1-3, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking to get into Mega Man sets!

I intentionally took deaths to Cut Man and Fire Man, respectively to refill my life bar on hard difficulty and the achievements for beating them popped.

However, I died against Elec Man unintentionally, lol. Anyways, the achievement didn't pop for him. Maybe it's just against Cut Man and Fire Man that it does that? Not sure.

I gotta say, "Hard" mode here was pretty fun. Same game but no item drops (except the Yashichi in Wily's castle) really made it a fun new way to play. Wasnt expecting that.

Mastered. This is free man. At least put a "hard mode, no game overs" achievement or something like that. Using a continue refills everything and puts you back at the start of the current stage, literally just bruteforced it in like an hour.

The hard achievements are for the NES set, this one was always intended to be more of a casual entry point as not every set needs to be masochistically insane. It seems to me that people liked that as well so I see no reason to change it.

In the main menu, highlight Navi mode (second option from the top), then press start while holding select.
