It's a piece of information that I probably otherwise would not have known about if it weren't for the achievement, I enjoy learning about obscure game info through cheevos.
I very much enjoy "passive play" in games (I play a lot of OSRS), because it allows me to get the satisfaction/"dopamine hit" of working on a goal without consuming all of my attention, allowing me to multitask it with another activity like watching a movie. I find that especially useful as a motivator for work, as otherwise I feel a huge amount of resistance to doing anything that isn't emotionally compelling to me but if I can think "Well at least I can do this other passive task that I am emotionally invested in at the same time" it lessens the resistance.
I find Pokémon games are some of the most well suited to passive play.
I also like being given an additional motivator to increase my number of encounters in any Pokémon game as it also provides more opportunity to encounter a shiny.
There's something about rare drops that I just find compelling too, the experience of hitting something with super low odds is super satisfying.

Master #32. Gen 2 complete. This set is definitely the middle ground for difficulty between gold and silver. It feels pretty complete and I would recommend someone wanting to play gen 2 start here. Thanks for the set

Mastered #14: I never want to hear about the battle tower from this game again. The number of times some bullcrap Miracle berry saved a random pokemon, or the magical 1-KO karate chop against Blissey... just no.

Mastered! This was a fun set to work on, a little chiller (for the most part) than the set for Blue, but equally challenging considering it has additional achievements.

Also, I'm not sure if I got lucky or what, but I personally had no issue with the held item achievements or Battle Tower. I happened to find a chansey with Lucky Egg on my second encounter and was able to grab the others in less than an hour of grinding (per mon).

As for Battle Tower, I got through it in one sitting with some patience and a solid team, so don't let those achievements discourage you if you're putting this one off!

Also, the speed up feature is your best friend. My time played on Retroarch is roughly 52 hours, and my played time in-game is over 310 hours lolol

Coming back to this for the revision, question. Does Crobat count for the Johto only pokemon challenges? Since zubat and golbat don't i assume.

Yes Crobat counts as a Johto pokemon, as does Blissey. I assume Espeon and Umbreon are the same, but I didn't use them in the battles so idk

Just got my mastery :) Took me about 4 days, not a bad set at all. Not too grindy, not too hard. Played this a ton when I was a kid and still love it to this very day. Thanks for making this set!

Thirty-seventh mastery, second Pokémon, first main poké game, gen two poké, and GBC anything. Took me ten days real time, 51 hours of uptime, and 113 hours of in-game time.

The level caps and Johto restrictions made raising a team for Johto and Kanto much more engaging than in the past when I've just stormed through easily with a starter up to Red and then needed to grind, though, granted, this did still end with needing to grind for Red, it was just getting six to L60 instead of one plus a legendary friend to something even higher.

This set covered a lot of neat little mechanics I never knew about, all the achievement icons were really cute, and although I still can't say I've made it to 251 it was pretty great to finish the obtainable Pokédex and I feel like I got to see everything in Crystal and that's really fun.

Mastered. Overall a fun set that’s a bit grindier than the only other Pokemon set I’ve mastered (Red/Blue). Some of the achievements made me want to die inside but what can ya do.

This was also my first playthrough of gen 2, so I didn’t know much going in (like how annoying roaming legendaries would be) so this set was full of emotional twists and turns for me.

Theres a lot of random crap in crystal people dont interact with and this set bringing attention to them was quite nice. The johot only restriction is also kinda fun to play around with

I'm glad to have finally played through this fully, the atmosphere this game has is unmatched, I could remember what it was like to play it with my brother growing up, so distant yet feels so close to me.

Mastered this game after a long while, but what really bothers me is that when i saved my game and returned the next day, all the pokemon i caught that were in my boxes including the legendaries suddenly disappeared and to this day i still have no idea why

Was it because i changed the clock too many times?
played the password game more than i should? caught too many unown? the pokemon that were in my current box and party did not disappear, but i still went ahead and decided to do the battle tower achievement despite this unknown mishap in the game, after completing the battle tower achievement i started a second playthrough and backed up my save files everytime i saved the game just in case this happens again, the game didn't mess up that time thank god, i got the rest of the achievements done and i'm relieved

I know this is going off topic but has this every happened to anyone on here?

Mastery #202 (GBC #15). Gen II finished! My least played gen growing up, glad to explore it more. A ton of improvement from the limited hardware of the Gameboy. The set was great and allows you to explore a little bit of everything the game has to offer. Though if you are blazing through the mastery and collecting your Pokédex, the day/time starts to become somewhat of a nuisance lol. Thanks for the set!
