Maybe I'm just really bad at pinball but this seems insanely difficult. I feel like there are a few key techniques I'm missing that would unlock a lot for me. Is it really just a matter of being able to place the ball where you want it consistently? How are people mastering this game?

There is a little bit of rhythm and setups for getting the ball going where you want it (like when it drops after exiting the slot), but the main thing that will let you last is utilizing the tilt system for getting out of the gutter. Unfortunately, that mainly comes from years of experience and not something that can be taught. It is insanely difficult, but it is a game you can get better at.

I expected that the game shows it's age and can be really tough, but I do find it very annoying, that there isn't a proper guide out there anywhere for such an old game. And by guides I mean, how to get better, how to prevent more that the ball lands straight in the middle where you can't do anything about it, how to setup your shots where you wanna land, how to use tilting more in your favor ect. even if it takes practice, at least there would be some kind of direction. And I barely couldn't find anything like that, only the very basics.

Guides on where the Pokemon are located are worthelss if you barely can't pass the first or second bonus games...

For people who never played Pinball in their life, this is such a miserable completion to do. I do get at least better, Day 4 or 5 right now, but I already reached a wall on how to get better. Maybe I should've really started with Pinball RS, because this sour the experience immensly. But I do have a habit to start the first game in the series first.

Just speaking my mind for people who want to get into Pokemon Pinball and what to expect of this game.

i’m no expert, but reading the manual to learn the mechanics of the tables helped, and also seeing the very few youtube videos of skilled playing (search pokemon pinball callumbal) showed me to use nudges a lot more. learn to light up the cave lights a lot, and how to save the ball from a left side drain by holding up the flipper on that side and doing an upward+left nudge to make the ball jump back to safety, and vice versa for the right side

wait you already mastered this in 4 days! i’m hoping to do it in under 4 years

@nicktonic The Manuel really helped with the basics and to see how each mechanic works, that is true. But it doesn't go beyond that. For example I struggled most with evolving, hitting certain spots and the EX points really felt like I got them through luck or it is nearly frame perfect. 2 Min time limit for that also stresses out on top of it, since it's not nearly straight forward as with catching.

But eventually, I did watch a speedrun of it myself and learned through that how to activate the Cave more consistantly. Juggling the ball near that Cave letter while simultaniusly switching the letters were rough at first, but that is where the practice really paid off. Only thing I would've like to know, is what the timing is on when to stop that Slot machine to get what you want, I still haven't figured that out.

As for how fast I mastered it, I abused the heck of the backing up savefile for this one, as it was suggested in that forum and no creator or mod seemed to ban it. The creator only disabled this for the Blue Table 500 Million score achievement, but everything else was fair game it seems.

Still, the learning process was still very frustrating and I had to vent somewhere which is why I said my piece of mind here, it helps to calm down and maybe get some more helpful tips.

However despite that, it was satisfying and rewarding learning that game and I am thinking about redoing it someday without backing up the savefile, but as for now I'm still drained from Pinball.

Given the save feature was being used as an exploit to cheat in hardcore mode, from now on CONTINUING a SAVED game will DISABLE all achievements. You now gotta start a new run on every gaming session.

Something that I found helpful for having longer sessions is once you get a cave bonus and shoot it into the slot hole it always goes towards the right flipper. So cup the ball and it will go up the lane and use the tilts to push it up and hit the sensor to give you a letter then while continuing the tilts to keep it in the spot hit the flipper to switch to a blank letter. Doing this I was able to gain constant bonuses that lead to pikachu kickbacks and save timers constantly.

I have know idea how anyone is able to master this game lol, I can barely catch a Pokemon without loosing a ball let alone evolve one, I have no idea how I managed to complete the Pokédex in this game when I was a kid
