Only 63% achievements complete even though I played it for 8 hours straight and did the entire story campaign. Yes, I'm going to have to be gaming.
DaniloZlatan 23 Jul 2022 17:02
I have 150 hours and still...
ViniNanaki 4 Nov 2022 18:20
The game is awesome, but this set makes it kinda boring. I hope they separate some achievements for a hadcore subset, and that they have separate sets for each version of the game, just like it is in all other Pokémon games.
RetroSprites 5 Nov 2022 05:09
Liike Fire Red and Leaf Green?, I hope, i have wanted to finish this pokémon game since I can remember, but seeing this set... just no, I mean, having to look for a pokémon with attacks that are not effective? and having to play tied to a law that tells me that I can level my pokémons only a little? and that I have to do that with each gym leader? Nah. Although, if nothing happens, I'm still going to play it someday.
Andrevus 5 Nov 2022 11:36
"I mean, having to look for a pokémon with attacks that are not effective" - Dragon Rage.
RetroSprites 5 Nov 2022 15:48
Ah, yes, how entertaining, using the same attack throughout the game, I know there are more, but having to look for a specific attack is not very fun for me, if it were just a battle it would be fun, since it is different , but for all leaders? No.
Andrevus 5 Nov 2022 19:18
Yes because spamming super effective moves all game every game is just as unfun as spamming the same move that does flat 40 hp damage and 2-3 shots everything up until the Elite 4 (minus that one gym leader of course)

This is just whining for whining sake, what difference is there in finding a strange yet somewhat unique tactic compared to memorizing type effectivenesses and doing the same but in a different color? Oh yeah, nothing.
RetroSprites 5 Nov 2022 19:33
You have 1 bad point here, since having a rule where I can't exceed a specific level, I can't use the pokémon I want, since maybe, it's not too strong to face a leader, and also, it may not have an ineffective attack that is very good, and that pokémon may be weak to the other pokémon, and I have to opt for another that I don't like or just. don't want to use right now. What is this ridiculousness of "whining"? Who is whining? I'm just complaining that the set is too tedious, also adding that some Pokeathlon achievements don't give the points they should because of how tedious they are. You take the complaint as a personal attack when it's just a criticism based on my point of view, how angry xD
ribb2112 13 Nov 2022 00:36
It shouldn't be the case that if one of your pokemon goes over the level cap, you don't get the achievement. You should still get it as long as you don't use a move. I beat Pryce, but since beating his last pokemon put my Gengar over the cap, I didn't get the achievement and had to redo it.
DaniloZlatan 14 Nov 2022 15:07
I believe the dev had the best intention of covering the entire game. But this for me ruined the experience, a lot of extremely boring mechanics, and worst of all the voltorb flip which is solely RNG based.
RetroSprites 14 Nov 2022 15:10
I say the same, that the game has a set of achievements is something that is appreciated, but, so many things make it more of a task than a challenge
DaniloZlatan 14 Nov 2022 15:12
Pokeathlon :(
jadoron 21 Nov 2022 18:51
Banning super effective moves is, at least I believe, a cool way to test your skill by making you have to get creative with your strategies. Level capping also seems obvious so you can't just overlevel and steamroll. Even then, it's not like it's particularly hard. You can still use items. You can still bring a full team of 6. You have massive advantages either way unless you cap yourself even more to make it fair. I really don't see why anyone would have a problem with those achievements. The true problem with this set are the absolutely awful Pokeathlon achievements. I get not wanting to just ignore that part of the game but this was not the better alternative. Voltorb Flip is also awful.
RetroSprites 12 Dec 2022 18:55
Well, after seeing that in Pokémon Gold there isn't as much need for super effective attacks (except Clair, maybe), I think I'll give the set a try, since I love the game and always wanted to finish it. Speaking of the Pokeathlon, I understand that it's for 100% so the achievement must be in the set, as for the Voltorb Flip, I don't know if it's necessary for 100%, but I think it's not in the set anymore. I wish they would make a Soul Silver set apart from this one and make it more normal, like the Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen sets, while LeafGreen asks you to defeat the gym leaders, the elite four, and Blue when you want and however you want, in FireRed there is a level cap and they ask you to defeat the elite four with 1 Pokémon. So it wouldn't bother me and other people that this set has so many things, because there would be the alternative.

Is edging allowed on achievements w/ lvl-caps?
Pamuk 21 Jan 2023 11:33
what @ribb2112 says. It should register whether you are in the level cap by the start of the battle. It doesn't make sense to leave it that way since you never know whether you will level up (multiple times even?) during the gym leader battle. Please someone change the logic of the cheevo or sth :(
Pamuk 3 Feb 2023 11:26
Does it have to be open level in the Battle Factory or does the Level 50 one work too?
KyoTheCat 16 Feb 2023 18:30
I got it on lv 50
Raj8 20 Mar 2023 18:53
I'm most interested in the Stranded from the World bit myself, first I've ever heard of it even. Can you just deposit all your Pokemon in the PC and talk to the guy with one?

Or do you need only one in your PC and Inventory? Because releasing everybody save two/one Pokemon for an achievement is brutal, especially at Gym 7, where you've raised up a decent roster, could see myself doing a solo run for that achievement alone, and then restarting.
TheRealBillHicks 25 Mar 2023 14:18
This is a perfect set. Yes, it's ridiculously huge and I'll probably spend eternity finishing it. But it does what RA does best: it showcases every mechanic and easter egg the game has to offer, and with a game this huge it makes sense that the set would be too. There aren't too many challenge achievements aside from the lvl cap/no super effective ones. Just enough to add a little more strategy to how you approach the gyms. It makes me use pokemon and moves that i wouldn't usually have used.

I grew up with gen 1 and 2 but haven't played these DS remakes til now. It's exciting to see how much bigger this game is and this set acts as a kind of tour guide. Love it! Thanks!
