@jNastyWSA: also manual unlocks are literally something any ra user can do, you just have to post it in the discord under the #manual-unlocks channel
subsets aren't literally supposed to be separate in the sense that you have to make a new save for them, they are separate so that regular players are able to master a set without having to do an extremely ridiculous and unreasonable challenge. people have been asking for subset integration for ages, it's just something that hasn't been added yet.

@jNastyWSA: i think it's way more preferrable for the staff if you manual unlock the medal subset than the other way around, since it's more difficult and you will likely get the gold medals at a much slower pace than unlocking the achievements on the main set-- plus it's easier to give proof for the gold medals.

I have no idea what you do to get gold medal, I never played this game, but maybe it better to just master the game without getting any gold medal then play the subset and get every gold medal?

So gold metals normally are a rare drop... you need a monsters copper medal, then you can get the monsters silver medal. When you get the silver, you qualify to get the gold metal. Post-game you can trade metals in to get silvers iirc.

Adding to the above info, you need at least 2 bronze to be able to get a silver, and 2 silver to have a chance to drop a gold. The bronze are easy to get, don't remember the chances, but I read somewhere that the chance to get the second silver medal is a 1/64, and the gold is 1/128.

The most important thing to remember is that the medal is only awarded to the last enemy you kill in battle, so if you have a flighty enemy or if you're not targeting the right enemies, you might be missing out.

Finally got back to wrapping this one up. For those hunting for medals, I made a checklist that you can find here - https://tinyurl.com/dq3gbc . Makes it a little easier than having to check your medals in game all the time. You can make a copy via File > Make a Copy to have your own list!

Awesome set! And thank you to Zombietraine for the medal checklist -- it really helped a lot. Something that helped me a great deal was save scumming the medals: before delivering the final blow, make a save state; and if it doesn't drop, wait a few seconds, make a new save state, and try again. Rise and repeat.

Think I'll try doing the gold medal subset in the future, though sadly the above trick won't help there for hardcore. Oh, and when you ask the Divinegon for medals, be sure to switch to the gold subset first for credit!

Thank you for your work on the set for this amazing remake! That said, I think the progression tags could use work. Thief's Key is correctly not tagged as required (one could theoretically grind for the Open spell on the first island), but Magic Key and Final Key are both listed as required when the same principle applies. Noaniels is listed as required, but it's entirely optional. Amazingly, Romaly is ALSO completely optional. (You do have to defeat tower Kandar, but IIRC you never have to collect the crown he leaves behind, and you never have to become king or queen, or even set foot in Romaly.) Also by learning Open, you can travel through the portal between Romaly and Portoga and bypass the need for Norud to tear down the wall. Meanwhile, "Obtain the Magic Bomb", "Defeat the Boss Troll", and a few others are required, but aren't tagged as progression.

Also, there are some fun achievements that could be added. If you beat Zoma without the Hero (which can be done after beating him the first time), you get a bonus story scene at the end. When a king or someone tells you how much exp you need for next level, you get unusual dialogue if you gained too much experience through non-combat (Luck shoes, Pachisi bug). Believe it or not, you can rename your item bag at Dharma.

If you don't beat Kandar in the Tower, you can't trigger the events in the Cave later when you fight him, leaving you unable to do get a ship.

You are correct about everything else. Especially the bag part because we always named it "Your Ass" and when you buy equipment the shopkeeper is like "There's always room in your ass!"

I didn't know about the Zoma no Hero thing, though.

You're right that you do have to defeat Kandar in the Tower, but you don't have to fulfill the rest of the quest (becoming king/queen). I'm doing some post-Zoma research right now, and I've got the Crown still in my inventory.

Mastered this childhood favorite! This game is really what got me into RPGs as a wee lass, and Toriyama's monster designs captured my imagination; I used to make my own little "Bestiaries" inside of notebooks! I even asked my mom if I could use "Hell" in my monster's names. Don't pick on me (she said no)

Truly one of the greatest RPGs ever made. I feel so accomplished and awesome for doing this set! Such a thorough, fun, and detailed set.

I had never done the Medal grind until now, and going through the Ice Cave for the first time...whew! So cool!!!! Worth every second of Metabble grinding!!!!!

I picked this as my 100th badge due to it being the best version of my favorite Dragon Warrior/Quest game, and I am so glad I did. This is what I would consider a perfect set. I greatly appreciate the care that went into making the set; it was amazing to play despite the medal grinding. Also, thank you @Zombietraine for the awesome checklist. It made the medal grind so, so much easier to organize.
