This feels like a prototype. Spyro doesn't even flying into the levels, it just fades to black.

The camera apparently was made like this because playtesters in Japan complained about motion sickness (japanese people apparently are more prone to motion sickness than usual). The signs were added because this game was being marketed to a younger demographic there (toddlers), as evidenced by the cover art.

It’s interesting how different cultures can have different effects on games, I guess Mario 2 can be another example.

Mastered! Honestly, I liked this! It took a bit of time to get used to the camera, but I ended up enjoying this quite a bit. I even like the feeling of the camera. And in some parts, even prefer it to the western version. Definitely worth a playthrough!

Mastered #5, wasn't as bad as I was thinking but still kinda bad, the camera was agony, and not being able to jump after a charge? That took awhile to unlearn, but I mastered it in one session, so not to bad.

Sadly Spyro did poorly in Japan so only 1 and 2 got a Japanese version.
Spyro 2 Japanese pretty much the same so sadly I don't think it will be getting as set.

Ahh come on, I'm sure the devs could rock out something original with the Japanese spyro 2 release.

Any excuse to replay old spyro again is a win in my book.

I say this because these are the rules that were presented to me. As long as there is an official release, regardless if they are identical or not, they can have a unique set. 🙂
The only caveat to this rule is if the memory is identical. In the case of Spyro, that is not the case. If you can convince a developer to create a set, it can happen. Maybe if I receive a promotion I might consider it. I like to consider myself a man of the people 😉

Mastery #162! Took me about 9 hours to master. Really not that bad. Once I got used to the wacky camera most of the game was very doable. Some places it was a bit rough, but generally nothing too bad.

Well, most of the time it's tolerable, although some segments in the second half of the game make me angry. I got a lot of pleasure from passing the original Spyro, I've never played it. This version...I think I'll avoid the Japanese versions from now on though. Thanks for the sets, anyway, it's perfectly reasonable.

Mastered in just under 5 hours! 'Course I've played the original version a ton, so I knew where most of the annoying collectibles were.
The set itself isn't very creative, but oh boy am I glad I played it! Because of this, I am so glad the Spyro I know and love is NOT this. That camera is straight from hell I swear to God.
10/10 would recommend

I love the first part of Spyro and it gives me a lot of joy every time, but the Japanese version of this game gave me a lot of reasons to be mad. The worst aspect of this version is the camera which is tragic and because of it I died many times which caused the level restart. I will say with full conviction that the camera in this version of Spyro is worse than the camera in Super Mario 64

For now I have to take a break from this series and for now I will go play Dying Light. And when I finish the DL I will return to mastering the whole Spyro series
