...Well, at least I have 100 so far. Not looking forward to the Strong Ones and the full-sprite Battle Memory will be a much bigger challenge. I am also glad the already rare mastery before will be much more valuable now!

For anyone who has encountered most or all enemies and still has access to that save: Reload and use the Battle Memory to get your 16-hit combos!

So far, I already got 16 hits in a few different battles, but none of the related achievements for them popped. My RetroArch isn't updated (1.9.9), but it does say the achievement is supported. I'll try it on the Battle Memory once I get it and update RetroArch if that still doesn't work, this is just a heads-up for anyone else

Yeah, I updated RetroArch and the 16-hit achievements have still been pretty inconsistent. In some I had to get them on the first combo attempt (missing, then doing it right later in the same battle wouldn't pop it), while in a few others I didn't have this issue. And there are some that just plain didn't trigger initially (like the Mecha-Drago, I did 16 hits during the actual Ch. 1 boss battle in every situation described and nothing, but doing it first try on Battle Memory did the trick). I'll try to keep better track of any other issues from now on, I'd rather not open a bunch of tickets without enough info

Removed a previous comment I made about the drum tracks; they are very easy.A 16-beat Attack! and A Marching Attack! are the only two combo songs not available in the Battle Memory, so you're going to want to NOT level up Lucas or Boney very much so they don't outright kill a Beaten Drum with less than 16 hits, but they should also be strong enough to withstand any attacks they receive. Just take their weapons off and that should be fine.

I believe there is something up with Bothersome Guys, Piggy Guys, and Toppling March. I have spent maybe a dozen hours trying to get those songs' combos and they're just not letting it happen. Clearly someone has done Toppling March and Bothersome Guys before, but this doesn't seem to be replicable. Some proof of this is that Bothersome Guys has a tempo of 140bpm with one unlock, but Fight with Mecha-Drago has a tempo of 144 and has 5 unlocks. Piggy Guys is obviously the original and easier song compared to Piggy Something, but for some reason nobody at all can finish Piggy Guys whereas 6 of us have finished Piggy Something. I have gotten 16-hit combos on all songs except these three (and the two Chapter 4-specific ones, just because I haven't gotten to it yet) and I hope that my position shows that something is wrong with these three songs; it cannot possibly be a skill issue considering how 2/3 of these songs have the easiest possible heartbeat layouts.

I'm only missing 4 16-hit achievements now. It's a shame that these themes are ungodly difficult for some reason, I may legit not master this game because of them, but I'm not giving up yet

Mastered... I'm more tired than happy for finally completing this one. I'm never trying to 16-hit Bothersome Guys ever again. Piggy Guys is just as hard, but felt almost easy after trying Bothersome Guys so much (seriously, this one took me way too long to do). There were other tricky songs too, but the set was pretty fun otherwise

I got Bothersome Guys within a few minutes but am struggling with several others. I wish they game explained the combo system more. Like is the margin for error cumulative over a whole sequence or is it based on each individual note. And if the notes spinning in a circle are starting to slow down, does the player need to speed up or slow down inputs.

Basically, any sort of input timing on any emulator is going to be extremely frustrating. I'd like to think there would be less issues on the actual GBA.

i beat the Mecha Drago without equipment yet by the end of the chapter i havent gotten either of the two achievements i should have gotten for doing so. do i get the achievement at the start of next chapter or something?

Mastered! This is seriously my favorite game of all time and it was so fun to get achievements for it! (except for the 16 hit combos.) also serious shoutout to Ness64 for giving me tips and advice for doing the harder 16 hit combos hes a really one for that!

Just adding something that I forgot to say back when I mastered this: If you're having trouble with the harder 16 hits, try to see how things go if you change GBA cores/emulators (and while it shouldn't be a problem, backup your save beforehand in case something goes wrong).

It's not that the achievements don't trigger unless you're using a specific core, they work fine, I used mGBA for almost the entire set. It's just that when I got stuck for a while back then, I thought it could be an emulator issue, and this led me to ask other people about which core they used and eventually switch cores myself. IIRC, the last few 16 hits I got were done after switching to VBA Next, and I also remember Beetle GBA was mentioned when I asked others about it.

I don't really know if there's an inherent frame/timing issue on mGBA or anything of the sort, but it doesn't hurt to at least try other cores. At the very least, I can confirm it's possible to master this set on VBA Next
