@TrogdorForHire - I used your tip and did the Kitana brutality. Ive performed it against cpu 5 times on medium and hard difficulty. Achievement Still shows locked. Snes9x current retroarch.

Added "Medium or Higher" on the descriptions for all "Beat the game playing only as char X" achievements, since they don't work if you play on easy or lower

Beat then game "only as" is so depressing and clearly not worth the time and effort to do this, overall 16 people of 2061 made it ... finish "with" is more fair for a game with an AI like this one :( not happy

Anyone knows if any cheats are allowed for the "beat game with X character" cheevos? Are 30 credits allowed? Disabling block etc? If it's not allowed, it should be in description.

Did some tests and 30 credits are allowed, but if you turn on any cheat that modifies the fighting, it will block you from completing arcade with X character achievement.

I'll second what @Shinjimx01 said, this game is well known for having one of the worst AI in history. Notice how some fights the CPU don't do almost anything, they just wait to counter whatever you do, and then you lose, continue, and suddenly they are more doable. It's a arcade behaviour to suck coins... ported to home console. Disabling some stuff (like throwing) can make the fights more variable and should be allowed, otherwise you need to follow boring strategies of tricking the AI... 24 times. No wonder only few users cared about getting these achievements.

The reason few users got these achievements is because the set got a wipe 2 years ago, and so all progress has been reset, it used to be a lot higher than now.

About MK AI, unfortunately it's broken and the only way to play is to exploit it, which is boring, but once you know everything about it, then you can consistently 1CC with any character, thus not taking too much time to unlock the achievements.

So most of the "Play only as" achievements are glitched. I just wasted 2 hours trying to beat the broken AI with Reptile and nothing popped up.

A lot of these should probably be fixed or demoted to unofficial.

At first I thought they were broken too, but it's that they're missing the information that you can't use 15 credits from the credits cheat, very frustrating because I didn't know why the achievements weren't working until I've checked the achievements logic.

To the people complaining about not using cheats, of course you should always assume that using cheats is disallowed, unless it is explicitly mentioned in the achievement that it is allowed. Even if the achievement is not cheat-protected, you are behaving unfairly against people who don't cheat, by using cheats.

I have no sympathy with people having wasted a lot of time, finding that their "achievement" isn't logged, when they are cheating.

(Again, if an achievement actually needs a cheat-code to pull off something special and unique, then that is a totally different thing.)

That the early Mortal Kombat games have an AI that gives you a very unfun and probably also a boring single-player game, when you know what you are doing, is not an excuse to cheat. You are doing a disservice to the people who for some reason actually wants to master this game in a legitimate way.
