I got softlocked twice now after beating Wather (blank screen, still could start+select to reset the game). First time as the last Factory before Faria, and second time after beating only Hevol and Windria. Atomic Punk ROM.

Got softlocked in the Bomber Boy ROM as well (the japanese one), now after beating Windria, my second Factory after Hevol. My current theory is that all these softlocks are related with having too many items in your inventory. This time I had 8 out of 10 of the used items, and 29 out of 30 in the inventory. Maybe it is related specifically with the inventory?

What Thoreau pointed out above makes a lot of sense, i didn't get to take the test, but it seems that if you have the inventory with no empty slots, finish some factory with bomb and fire power ups equipped, they will return to your inventory, breaking the game, still i realized that if you finish any factory without dying, you get an extra elixir, i could be wrong, as i was always avoiding spending the maximum amount of gold to accumulate 6000 and consequently not accumulating so many power ups, i didn't have a full inventory to have this same problem.

Now instead of filling my Inventory with 28+ items after beating Hevol as my first Factory, I started to fill it with 21 items only and the softlocks have stopped. I could get not only to 6k gold, but to 8k+ gold as well (as the cheev required before) on the last Factory stages. It would have been easier had I understood this softlock bug earlier. Anyway, thanks for the set, Scott!
