Finally finished grinding all the weapon orbs in the Mana Fortress, just gotta knock out the last two bosses to master this gem from my childhood. Great set. Getting the orbs was not remotely fun—I started the Mana Fortress at ~Lv70 & ended up a few kills away from Lv99 when the last orb finally dropped—but I can't argue that the set needs those achievements to feel complete.

Personally I would've added a 25-point cheevo for getting all the weapons forged up, to sweeten the pot a little, and to mirror the fact that the other grinding cheevos have such an achievement (weapon & spell levels). But that's ultimately a trivial nitpick, and otherwise, there's nothing I would add or remove. This set was exactly what I would've expected & hoped for going into the game. Hats off to the authors!

This was initially supposed to be a Nintendo Playstation disc game. Partway through production, the deal with Sony sunk, as Sony wanted to keep all the royalties for disc game sales.

They had to cram a lot of data down to cartridge size. The developers were tired and wanted to just drop the project, but thankfully they were pushed to make a release.

The biggest thing cut was animations and sprites, but many other things were cut such as areas and alternate endings. Much of the removed content later was repurposed into Chrono Trigger.

Two of the signs of the removed content is the carousel wheel on the map by Southtown, and the background scroll bug in the Lofty Mountains. If you notice, the scrolling position of the background when you get to the top is in a different location as when you enter and leave Sage Jock's.

It's honestly really cool we still got this masterpiece, so hopefully giving this context will help you understand just how much work went into this game. This is the case where it's not laziness, but there were just too many loose ends to tie up from things outside their control.

They made it work which is what was important. Apparently there WAS supposed to be a last sword orb, but idk what point in production that was changed.

Is there any way to update this site to match uo achievements I have earned from the game? I have earned quite a few achievements but the site is saying I haven't not earned them. On retroarch it shows I have them however

@OrderSixty6 There is manual unlocks on discord if you can show you were connected to retroarch and can show the chevos unlocked in the chevos section, if you were at least signed in during those. Those fall under "connection issue" criteria, otherwise you need to submit a ticket for why it didn't pop to get it unlocked.

They do not approve chevos for what you accomplished not connected, eg if you played it in a different emulator or without connecting to hardcore mode.

I've seen some occurrences in the forums of people having a setting on that makes it show locally (emulator) but not server (this site).

I don't remember what setting that is, but you can either explore your settings for chevos in the emulator (checking settings, make sure hardcore is on, etc); or you can check the forums.

Maybe google: retroachievements chevos show on retroarch but not site

Trying to use the search on the site would likely be less productive.

@stonypony I appreciate the reply. I'm not sure what's going on to be honest but I will check all your suggestions out. I play on a steam deck and only play while at home connected to the internet for sure. Once I discovered Hard-core mode, that's all I have been doing. My internet has been acting a little weird lately and has gone in and out some the past few weeks so it's possible that's what is up but I will check my settings if anything has been changed. If not I'll try to get some manual unlocks. If the achievements were random ones not needed to complete the game then I would worry about it later and maybe replay the game later on but quite a few are required to have the game completed.

Guys can i get a bit of help? I’ve never played this game before and WAS enjoying it. But im stuck at two werewolves at the very beginning of the game. I don’t know if it’s something im doing wrong but i only have to get hit once and then im juggled until i die. I can’t open the menu, i cant move, i cant attack, i just stumble and get hit constantly. I’m not too sure what im doing wrong? Can someone help me?

This is something that can happen, but ultimately, you need to work around them. Try to focus only on one at a time and to stay away from them when they're grouped together. You can also stun-lock enemies by controlling other characters and hitting them when they're down. I believe you would have the sprite by this point, so you can try that.

I finished this set. One boss achievement didn't unlock when it was supposed to, but other than that, it was a good run. Getting the last orbs is hell.

Great game and set.
But man farming those orbs was a nightmare. About 30 hours to beat the game and get all achievements excluding the weapon orb ones then around another 30 hours of farming the orbs.

I posted a guide in the forums for doing both this set and the subset at the same time. You'll be grinding anyway, so you may as well get the extra +410 points for doing both with one save file!
