Is there a good video to watch to help understand the mechanics of the game? I played this on PSP when it came out but haven’t touched it since and I feel very overwhelmed. I feel like I’m just button mashing and some battles seem like I lose them too fast even though I’m over leveled. The menus, shop, and other features are a bit overwhelming to understand as well, any help would be appreciated

OMG! Inward Chaos is nothing compared to the Ultimate Weapons crafting.
I used Golbez and a Exp → Brv Build because of his broken Genesis Rock HP attack. He did the thing a bit faster.

Good general tip thats useful for grinding battlegens or EXP, set the CPU behavior to Calm, and select Chaos Rules. The CPU will often trigger the CPU to be frozen by Chaso Judgement

Tons of memories with this game as well. I did consider jumping straight into Duodecim, but I never finished this game on my PSP, and it's hard to beat the nostalgia of going back to a game you spent a ton of time with as a kid.

As much as i love this game, the ultimate weapons collection demands an insane and unhealthy amount of grind for each one, which makes the game feels like the worst job ever in existence. Truly horrendous compared to how we can obtain them in 012.

He does not require unlocking and the arcade mode is 5 matches long and is pretty easy (and allows infinite retries if you fail), so getting the relevant achievement should be fairly quick, though the game's mechanics are rather unique so that could slow you down a little bit; you'll probably be fine though.

I found the RAWR achievement super easy, and I had never played this game in my life. I just spammed the special move with the square button. Took me 18 minutes from start to finish. Though I needed standalone PPSSPP, because trying to launch it with the RetroArch core caused it to crash for some reason.

But yeah, some of the weirdest mechanics I've ever seen from a fighting game. Looks like it could be an interesting one, though.

Mastered! Was fun to revisit this game considering I haven't touched it since 012 released. I remembered liking that EX Mode functioned as an instant kill burst over 012's Revenge and also enjoying the Duel Colosseum more than 012's Labyrinth, as well as the superior menu and character select themes, but not much else. Set is pretty comprehensive and flows well, but if it were ever altered I'd expect the level 100 and Ultimate Weapon points to be swapped between each other, grinding for weapons takes so much longer than leveling up even when you have everything planned out. Onto 012!

Mastery #565: Don't try rushing this in a week, just don't. The amount of grinding here expects you to play this in short bursts, especially for the rare drops and getting enough materials to make the ultimate weapons.

So quick tip to make the ultimate weapon grind easier for people:
When going for the battlegen drops from the level 100 CPU, they all want you to inflict break on the opponent which can be exceedingly tedious if, say, the opponent has summons that rapidly increase bravery, or god forbid say at a certain point they can't be inflicted with break. Put the manual odin summon on, and the first chance you get, summon him. It'll auto break no matter their bravery, and they won't really be able to counteract if they have one of the summons that negate break. If you don't get the 50/50 chance of a break, don't finish the fight, and just retry so that you can save your charges of odin. If you get it, but don't get the roughly 10% with the right accessories and the battlegen up active, then same as before, retry. The RNG for both odin, and the drop rate resets at the start of every fight. Instead of having to play against a cracked out CPU for several minutes, every attempt could take like 10 seconds, most of which just being resetting over and over again. The only real time taken otherwise is when you need to actually win the fight when you do get the battlegen item, or when you reset the arena to be level 1 minimal CPU for 6 fights to restore odin.

Was about to lose it with this grind, but finding out how the RNG in this god forsaken game works almost made me cry.
