Just make sure you have the latest Retroarch (older versions don't work with Dreamcast cheevos, I don't remember how new your version has to be) and the USA GDI and it should work.

Also I've been really enjoying playing MvC2 again. I never actually tried that many of the characters, and the arcade cheevos have made me like some I never knew I liked.

I can't get the Magic Series achievements no matter how hard I try. I've gotten 7 hit aerial combos but the achievement has yet to appear. What could I be doing wrong?

Figured it out. Ruby Heart's Anti-Air assist makes these achievements much easier.

Tying the actual PROGRESSION achievements to ones for hardest difficulty is ridiculous when the AI on these older Capcom games are already borderline broken on default difficulty. I can wind up getting every other achievement for the game, clear Arcade no matter how many times to get the points to unlock all the characters, stages and colors and still not have the game classified as beaten.

Just seems counter-intuitive.

I can definitely agree that this game on the hardest difficulty, while not actually that hard to get through, even with the final Abyss fight, it tends to be long and obnoxious due to how frequently the CPU blocks your attacks. For once, the issue with the CPU is their defense, not their offense.

A majority of my strategies so far have not been towards engaging my opponent, but spamming certain strong assists, projectile camping and winning via timeout thanks to chip damage.

A bit of tech I found, even though it's probably not the best idea for some users, but one of the best ways to get Points comes from doing Arcade Mode matches on the highest damage settings with two players / controllers. At the very worst you'll get about 200 points per match from it if you draw, and up to 400 if you win via a DHC with all of your partners still alive.

Beat the game!! This set is really good for the most part, as you can learn a lot about the game while mastering it, but I was not a fan of how much you need to grind to get all the characters and colors. Overall though, I had fun despite some frustrating moments.
