If you have the Red Scarf in your inventory then you should be able to open a request for a manual unlock of Edge's challenge, but all three of these achievements are optional in-game content, so the game could have easily been mastered without doing any of them.

seems like you forgot that you don't need to play the other 2 games to do this, not to mention that the tales don't even need grinding or anything like that and each one ends in 30 minutes, if a basic review like this of progression you're crying I don't even want to see when 7 comes out.

For what it's worth, this affects me too - I had the set mastered prior to the revision, and now I'll need to go through my old saves to go back to these points in the game and re-earn them, if I want to update my mastery. The game is still one I've mastered and I still have the mastery badge on my profile, just like everyone else that previously mastered it.

Nobody has lost anything as a result of this revision - there's just a few more achievements and a few more points for those that want to see everything the game has to offer.

These aren't even new challenge achievements - they're achievements for built-in portions of the game. Unlike Steam and other achievement platforms, where devs can delete/replace achievements at any time, or have broken achievements (commonly seen with achievements for non-functional multiplayer, or broken DLC) - here everything goes through a revision vote and is announced ahead of time in a forum plan, where anyone can comment on it while the revision is under vote or in progress.

There were no votes against this revision, and I had contacted both of the original set devs ahead of time and not only got approval, but was told that these achievements were meant to be part of the original set but got missed.

And finally, for this set and any others - if you think that a revision is bad and that the achievements shouldn't exist, you're always welcome to give your thoughts in the forum, or even become a dev yourself and put the game through a revision vote to see if those achievements can get removed. If you've done these achievements already and have proof (such as the Red Scarf in your inventory, or a video of you completing the second challenge dungeon and collecting all the chests) then manual unlock requests are always a possibility as well.

It took me three hours to unlock these new achievements. The major part of the time was spent to ask myself "where the hell should I go?!" and loading saves hoping for the best. Honestly is was a bit tedious. I am not a big fan of this concept because I did all these tasks in my previous run, exactly 1 year ago. I was lucky I had a lot of well organized saves because I forgot everything. It's not a good idea to ask players mid game tasks after having completed a jrpg. Whatever, it's ok to complain but do your job right after. The moral is: always keep your save files, you never know.

Just a tip for people looking to hunt tails.
Dont.
I realized way too late that they will take about 20-50 hours EACH to drop. (rng will always be rng, but 20hrs was my fastest drop)

Go through the beginning of the final chapter and collect all 21 small tails. MAKE A BACKUP SAVE!
You can get through the subterrane to the person who collects the tails in at MOST 2 hours, and thats 3 tails per run.

This might be the obvious method to some, but I wasnt completely convinced anyone in their mind would make drop rates in the ~1 in 2000 in an official game that wasnt an MMO. Also the wiki blatantly lies to you with the "37.5%" drop rate. (this is assumed to be the rate IF the enemy drops an item, but the wiki doesnt mention enemies like the green dragon only drop an item at a 0.005% chance)

Anyway, long story short, take my 300 hours of needless tail grinding as a lesson. Make a backup save, go through subterrane 2 more times, and be happy with your life choices. The items are not worth it, and absolutely not needed for the rest of the achievements.

Most of the FF4 achievements are missable. I just realised I missed "Taste of Your Own Medicine" as it wasn't marked on this page and have to start a new save to get it. At least it was ordered correctly, but I guess it's my fault for not checking this page or the active challenges within the emulator.

It's not just the boss fights as well. Small fights like "Team Leader" is missable as the General will retreat if you kill the other soldiers. Events like two of those Mysidia transformation achievements are missable as they can only be done with Dark Knight Cecil.

The way I managed tail hunting in TAY is for my main run, I did Black (Palom's tale), Gold (Edward's tale), Rainbow and Red (Small Tail exchange). Then I grinded 15 characters' levels to 80 for the superbosses while hunting for Pink, Blue, Green and White tails. Purple, Gray and Ebony were done in a separate quick run through the final dungeon. Purple is actually the worst tail to grind for because you need to heal up after every battle against the powered Behemoth, which gets very cumbersome after a while. Just do the speedrun through the dungeon and get it that way.
