be careful when getting in the big fan room, if you press the button more than once the game will turn on the fan but think is off and you wont get launched towards the ceiling, have a manual save not quick save to go back to just in case

MASTERED! Mostly fun set aside from some kind of grating challenge cheevos here and there but overall good experience :) playing Half-Life with a controller will never not feel weird though.

Well, I still have to get the 2 hour speedrun cheevo, but I'm not sure I'm actually going to get that one. I'm gonna try a couple times on the weekend.

All in all - this was a great set, thanks so much to the authors who made it! I feel that this set does a great job at showcasing everything that the PS2 version has to offer - minus Decay, of course. Eagerly awaiting that games set.

There were probably some other level-specific secrets they could have thrown in there, but I think this set was great and I had a lot of fun with it.

Thank god there aren't any xen-related cheevos, save for the ones from just beating them on hard.

I got all of these achievements using a controller, for those interested on if that's even "viable" or not - and I think the 2 hour run achievement is also very doable on a controller.

The lock on system can be a bit annoying at times but I think that it's helpful more often than not.

Good game, great port, great achievement set. Gonna do blue shift at some point but I've played Half Life 4 times over as of writing this in a row so I think I need a bit of a mental break.

Fun set but I had a couple issues with the game softlocking on map transitions near the end of the game - I'd recommend making saves at the start of each chapter in case that happens.

Also for some reason after finishing my Alien Mode run and turning the cheat off the emulator randomly submitted a bunch of times of 0.01 seconds... uhhhhhh

After a little digging it turns out this version of the game has a memory leak problem - each time you load or reload a map the game caches everything in it, but it never clears this out. Eventually it overwrites other parts of the game's memory which is why the softlocks occur, so finishing the game without doing a reset is pretty much impossible.

In my experience it kept happening around Lambda Core/Gonarch's Lair, so I'd recommend creating a save every few map transitions after you reach that point if you're playing through the game in one sitting. It'll only be a matter of time after Lambda Core starts until you inevitably get softlocked.

After the softlock occurs do a reset and you can load the save completely fine. Also if you're going into this with no prior HL1 PS2 experience like I did, quicksaves aren't permanent and there are no autosaves - to make a proper save you need to pause and go to the Mid-Game Menu.

@EmApex you're exactly right, if you're not going for the "Up For Promotion" achievement it's recommended you don't go through the entire game in one sitting, and instead make sure to restart the game at least once at some point around the start of a new chapter or something.

(That achievement used to be beat the entire game, then realised even if you played perfectly and fast the memory leak will always occur, the latest you can make it to is Interloper.)

the camera controls when you use the mouse option are so ass but for the sake of my sanity not going down by playing on a gamepad, i'll stick to keyboard and mouse for precision
