Yeah this has never worked well for me outside that custom Dolphin build the mod creator made. Quite a shame. Seems to have gotten worse with newer updates. Bunch of graphical glitches.

Mastered! Neat but messy hack!

As people have been saying, Dolphin 2409 was pretty unplayable with random black polygons all over the place - but 2407-68 was perfect aside from the slowdowns.

Just wanted to add that 2409 is also unplayable because of random crashing.

The crashes on 2409 may be because emulation of flipper improved. We need to test this on console to verify, but we're currently investigating the graphical issues to see if they happen on the hardware fifoplayer.

Just a heads up, the last working version for this set is 2407-225.
Anything newer is broken and will likely not be fixed. If the RA minimum Dolphin version increases above this, I would suggest removing this set/hack entirely. https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/13005#issuecomment-2378273459

I was also a tad overzealous. There *is* random crashing that seems to be instigated randomly when the polygons for the ghosts really decide to lose their shit when you’re sucking them up… but at least it’s uncommon.

@Melodius, fwiw, I also experienced rare crashing on 2407-225. The hack in general throws lots of errors, so not too surprising. I did 8 play throughs getting the full set and crashed only 1 time.

We had someone test this hack on console - it does not run. As such, we cannot make efforts to fix the hack as it's not working correctly in the target environment.

This set has been demoted to due to obsolescence of the hack. If the hack is updated to run with the most current version of Dolphin, it's possible that the set can be restored.

I talked to the creator of that hack and it seem that the problem is the LM tool development that already had that issue and the newer update of dolphin were so modern that it now show the bugs on that LM tool development, so I sent a message on the Luigi's Bigger Mansion discord for a fix.

Ok, so it look like newer version of dolphin will probably only break it more and it would take alot of effort just for that like having to rework code made by an API that is screwing us, recreate models, and essentially make everything again due to how deep rooted things in the mod are, but there may be a remake of this hack in the future that will fix all that, but it not 100% sure so let hope it happen so I can export all the set to the new game.

I mean it's just worth 1 point you can get that pretty easily just beat animal crossing using item codes. Or play and beat a short game.
