A lot of the PO challenges have very limited pokeballs in the beginning, it’s kind of expected that you spend basically all your money on only balls, and if you fail a catch after first attempt then you reset the encounter and try again.

That being said, I don’t think there is a way to farm money so early in the game :/

There is a way to farm money, but it involves either duplicating items or farming berry trees. It's actually required for the Gold POC since you need a moon stone for Jigglypuff.

@Shyz There's a "exploit" of the mechanics with the phone numbers you can do.
Grab Fisherman Ralph's number on Route 32, then go back to your house and talk with your Mom to change back and forth with Daylight Savings Time. This usually gets someone to call you. You can keep doing this to get him to tell you there's an outbreak of Qwilfish.

here's an easy method to getting the roaming legendaries.

1st buy either a repel in Goldenrod City department store or a super repel from Olivine City ( either work perfectly fine. )

2nd you'll need a pokemon level 17-40 in the lead spot ( any lower and the repel won't work on the mons on the route I'm going to give in a sec. any pokemon higher than 40 won't allow the roamers to spawn either. I used a level 40 for mine. )

3rd go to Ecruteak city and head south to route 37. Now before zoning into the new route ( 1 step away ) save your game. After saving pop your repel then continue south into the grass and try to get said legendaries. this will take, but couple tries.

If they don't spawn that's fine soft reset ( hold a, b, start, select ) and try again.

For anyone wondering why you save in the city. It's cause when you change routes said legendaries have a chance to change routes as well. thus when you go to 37 you've got a chance for them to appear as well and with your lead being say level 40 with a repel only the legendary can spawn thus forcing them to appear making this hunt much easier to do.

Hope this helps anyone trying to get said mons and happy hunting.

This was my 6th Oak mastery, let's go!

And honestly probably the most fun of what I've done so far. Apart from the roaming, those weren't fun to catch! Tried following a method for a while but eventually gave up and did what Sylux said. Much easier method. Fuck anything else.

During my playthrough I caught 2 wild shinies. Those being Rattata and Pidgey. Evolved both of them and manually unlocked the 5 achievements in the shiny set, so that's neat.

However, I did accidentally knock out a shiny Graveler while I was in the grind. It's okay, but it stung a little. And the odd egg gave me fucking SIX shinies before a normal ass Tyrogue. But again, it's okay LOL

My next challenge is Emerald, but I will return to GS one day.

45th mastery overall, and my very first POC I've ever done! This was as much of a grind as I thought it'd be and in some ways more, there was not only EXP grinding but also marathons to and fro through Johto for stones, but it was a lot smoother and more fun than I was expecting. Granted, some of that is I think Blue Rescue Team and Destiny Islands have really increased my tolerance for a grind, plus the guide and the experience from the core set helped.

I thought the main set showed me everything there was to normally encounter in Crystal, but this really showed off the progression gates. I had no idea you could get an Ursaring before Falkner. The early game took forever, of course, but I liked feeling like each leg of the journey was its own new opened up set of possibilities and restrictions to fully explore, and how every Pokémon felt like they were getting a little attention in finding them so soon and often raising them up so long compared to just getting and forgetting.

Also, the badges for every Pokémon with their sprite in front of a valid attainment location were really cute.

Now with the core set and the POC set mastered, there's only one place left to go to for Crystal… if I dare

I can't successfully get this ROM to work. When I apply the BPS patch in the supported files to any ROM and then try to open the ROM in the emulator, I get "invalid checksum" error message. Anyone else with this issue?

First master of mine, was really fun and addicting to play! Also for anyone grinding early on (after first badge), PSA that Heracross grind is broken in Crystal. Just with the last number of your trainer ID you can find which tree can spawn it most of the time
