Brutal but masterable if your racing fundamentals are strong. Going into Time Trial and running a twisty track like Mario Circuit 4 is the best way to learn to understand the drift mechanics because all of the outside interference from the other racers won't pressure you or mess you up.

This is the hardest game that i've mastered so far.
Mario Kart is often extremely unfair and will screw you over without mercy. I recommend good psychological preparation before facing this. Good luck!

If you go into this set trying to master it with cheap tricks you found online (skip laps etc.) you will be heavily disappointed. They require much more effort than simply getting good at racing itself.

Sit down and try and get top 30 on every map time trial, then you are good to go to beat 150cc.

Oh and, you can use any of the racers/karts, don't shoehorn yourself into DK/Bowser just because everyone says they are the fastest (they are). 150cc can be beaten with any character if you are good with it. Mastering Koopa/Toad is much faster than mastering DK/Bowser. I would argue Peach and Yoshi are a waste of time since their benefit (acceleration) just means you need to play bad to profit from it.

mastered #10. so far this is the second most difficut set i've completed behind mario kart double dash. if you want an easier and more enjoyable set than this, i highly recommend f-zero

Man, I'm exhaused, this game brings you the very best, you have to drive at your maximum effort in order to do the 150cc achievements.

I played at day "cheating" with a second controller to get a -1 rival, and I having so frustrating times with Toad. I win Gold on Special 150cc after maaaany days... ON PAL VERSION!

Initially, I was not willing to master a "very retro racing game not 3D", but I love Mario Kart series, I participate to some offline tournament, so, thanks to the retroachivements, I made the decision to play this genre, for me, "almost completely obscure" on his 2D incarnations.

And I not regret to played Super Mario Kart after 30 years^^

What a challenge that was^^ Even if, when you understands well the sliding system, learn some courses, and develop some skill in general... this game becomes "easy-normal difficulty", because I made many tough achievements in a single Saturday Evening. I was fainted by Mario-Luigi-Yoshi-Peach 150cc Special achievement, and the Donkey-Bowser counterpart. Star 150cc becomes easier when I learned to play properly (my Toad strikes again as 30 years ago!), so I think that gives you too many retropoint.

Anyway, to me this is a very important master, because makes me go up to 14.000 hardcore points and makes me broke the wall of 100.000 retropoint!

And now, going to master other Mario Kart Chapters!

P.s if you think that Nintendo always made an easy Mario Kart... playing this will leaves you without words. F-Zero & X will be two piece of cake if you master this, but... play GX if you want the true equivalent hardcore experience than Super Mario Kart.

I've never had a game do this to me before but every time I play this I get nauseous very quickly. The perspective scrambles my brain
