So this weird glitch happened where I got 255 lives. I played Act 3 trying to beat Metal Sonic without taking damage, ran out of lives, was brought back to the level select screen, selected Act 3 again and not only did I start at the last checkpoint but my lives were at 00. I died again and it became 255. It even persisted when I exited out of Ancient Castle through the pause menu and selected Act 2.

I'm really not trying to grind on the developer because ROM hacks take up a lot of time, but... I really didn't like this. It was buggy, the bosses had little to no original style save for the first, and the 'extra' zones were Marble Garden and Spring Yard palette swaps. I hope the full, true edition comes out someday.

A fun and easy hack to play, especially for those not familiar with Sonic games. The only downside is that it has quite a few bugs, but nothing that ruins the experience.

"Sonic Winter Adventures" is a short hack of the first "Sonic the Hedgehog" for Sega Genesis. It has a total of five levels (one of which is only available in challenge mode and is just a slight reskin of Spring Yard Zone). The hack takes it best foot forward with the Frozen Island Zone and just kinda goes downhill.

Sonic comes with the Spin Dash, the Peelout and even the Homing Attack (which also acts as its own speed boost). And to make up for this amount of speed, the levels are filled to the brim with enemies. Unfortunately, this contributes to the game's performance issues; when there's too many enemies onscreen, the lag gets pretty bad.

The boss fights are also designed for you to be slow and patient, giving you only brief moments to damage them. Furthermore, the bosses take a lot longer to defeat because of the increased HP (first boss has 8, the later two bosses have 16). It sort of goes against how bosses normally work in the Genesis games, so it takes some getting used to before you figure out how to defeat them.

The graphics are a lot of reused assets; backgrounds from previous Sonic games and some recolors here and there. But the hack's best quality is its music; pretty much every song here is a bop. I don't know if there are original compositions or if they're all remixes (I recognize Cosmic Angel from "Sonic Advance" in Frozen Island Act 2).

This was actually pretty fun. Took me just a little over 3 hours but it would've been quicker if I had of known there was level select lol.....I got basically all the achievements in the frozen zone first.
