How do you get the Set Mode achievements, cause I thought you had to just beat the Gym Leader and be less than or equal to the level to get it

Set Mode doesn't refer to level cap. It is an option in the menu that after beating a trainer's pkmn, the game won't ask you if you want to switch your pkmn

Note that "Challenge" cheevos won't unlock if one pkmn in your party is above the lvl requirement. Even if it isn't used in battle.

Omg the text. At a certain point you can predict the dialogue because they repeat story points sooooo many times.

I really have enjoyed the maps so far though. Overall a really good looking hack.

Mastered! According to RetroArch, this took me 15:52:13 in real time and I finished with a final In-Game time of 47:28.

This might be the best "Vanilla" romhack of Fire Red I've seen. It stays mostly faithful to the original Gen 3 Kanto games but changes the map layout to reflect the Kanto of Heart Gold and Soul Silver instead. There's also a plot update where Giovanni is replaced by Gary's sister Daisy and Red / Green becomes a second rival.

The challenge achievements in this hack were annoying but not too bad. The level scaling is amazing in this game, you can basically add a new Pokemon to your team at any point during your playthrough because the wild Pokemon increase drastically in level, peaking at Level ~60 by the time you're ready to challenge the Elite Four. I used a team of Venusaur, Primeape, Crobat, Lapras, Sandslash, and Mewtwo to sweep through most of the game.

About 1/3 of my total playtime was dedicated to completing the Pokedex alone. That's not too bad for a Fire Red romhack - other hacks like Ultra Violet and Der Erif and Water Blue are much worse. In the postgame you get access to infinite gym leader rematches which allows you to drastically speed up the process of getting the higher level evolutions. Unfortunately, many of the evolution levels were increased (your max starter comes at Level 40 and Dragonair doesn't evolve until Level 64).

Overall, I'd highly recommend this hack. In some ways it's even more enjoyable than the base Fire Red despite being mostly faithful to the original.
