Japanese version will not be compatible. It has additional characters at the very least.

Found out some of those characters are in this version when modifying memory, but they don't look fleshed out, and by choosing them it turns the language to Japanese. Kind of an interesting thing.

I'd consider doing the Japanese version but if I get THAT bored, I think it'd be better to do Sengoku Basara 2.. (Hoping to do SW 3 and Samurai Heroes for Wii when they comes around, so we'll see. )

The american version was basically a dumbed down version of the JP version ported over to the us, it failed to compete with DW which is why they never ported 2 over.

I would highly recommend SB2H instead of 2 vanilla, 2 heroes has so much playability and by far the most complete Basara on the PS2.
