For any future players of Okage. Use all three save slots and save states. There's a chance the game will randomly delete your saves for no explained reason, like it did for me. Lost all my progress in mid Chapter 5/7 for context. If your game is crashing I'd also turn down (or turn off) your blending accuracy and cache settings. Hope this helps.

I don't think the saves are "deleted", it's just that sometimes the writes to the card don't happen correctly. So to be sure everything is in order you should probably open the save menu again after having saved. If your latest save game is displayed correctly, then everything should be fine I believe. I also always used "Exit with Save State" is PCSX2, but I'm not sure this is available if hardcore is enabled.

As a reminder, you're not playing this on an actual PS2. You're on a computer, you can manually copy your saves after each commit into another folder on your desktop or something in case of a catastrophic error. Save managers, people. Use them.
