This game isn't perfect but it certainly isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. Certainly playable once you start understanding what to do. Biggest issue is some of the weapons being blocked by narrow walls.

For whatever reason no matter what version of the rom I get, this keeps coming up as having no achievements in Retroarch

I was wondering why the achievements weren't working on the US version (I had gotten all the achievements on my old account back in 2019, and I had played the US version then). I grew up with the US version and that's what I'm familiar with. I just did these on the EU version, and... wow, the EU version is a complete walk in the park. I prefer the US version, myself, but at least the EU version makes the game more accessible for players.

To those struggling, your powerups reset after every boss defeat, so make sure you use them missles potions and invisibility. Makes a huge difference.

Considering that the point of cheevos is to challenge the player, you would think they would have the cheevos on the US version. We need the US version, I'd prefer to complete the game I grew up playing. That's like people playing the Japanese version of Ninja Gaiden 3 and saying they beat the game, not true.

A sad set. Only being on the European version and how easy the cheevos are make this a bust. Might as well give cheevos away.

Just mastered the game. I had a pretty fun time with the European version, and I feel better playing it compared to how wrong the North American version was given to us. Not being able to shoot through walls and making enemies total bullet sponges in the NA version of the game is just wrong and unforgivable. If a set for the NA version is made, that's cool too, give those people who like that version a chance to crack at that one.

The retro achievements aren't working for me unless I run the game in test mode and if I do that they don't count towards me actually getting them. It's coming up as a unknown title for the rom I'm using.

I decided to test the achievements with the NA version and they worked well. Maybe the NA version could be allowed as a ROM, or a bonus set can be made for those looking to play that version.

Mastery #3! I remember renting this one as a kid. Never beat it but, kept coming back to it. Must be that Sunsoft charm. Thanks to Thundard for making this set.

This game is so easy on the PAL version and a turbo controller, the weapons fire go through objects, in the US version the weapon fire stops when it hits any objects, I died twice only and only because I wasn't fully paying attention, in the bosses just use invisible potions and regular potions and fire at will at the bosses faces until they die, everything gets refilled after a boss, so damn easy, I was hoping for a grueling challenge after watching the AVGN episode and Mike Matei livestream of it that took 4+ hours, I finished in 1h (6h in the profile is because I left the game open while I watched a movie or things like that when I needed a break from the game)
