Love Resident Evil and had been with the franchise since the beginning. Never had a DS, only bought a 3DS a couple years ago. Current retro game prices left me to emulate this version. Glad I did so that I could get all these achievements. Definitely breathed new life into the game. The new puzzles, knife sections, and extra enemies introduced to "Rebirth Mode" were entertaining, if a little aggravating too sometimes. However, I chalk that up to shitty emulated stylus. Loved having the map on screen at all times thanks to the dual screen nature of the DS. Worth every second I spend, and I have to give this game a 4/5.

Does anyone know how to solve the candle blowing puzzle? I have the mic button bound but neither Desmume's pattern nor random setting work.

You can only do this in desmume standalone , ralibretro or retroarch emulator it is impossible due to lack of resources

I used desmume standalone and I can't manage to blow a single candle with all microphone settings, even using a real microphone while on retroarch desmume I ca blow a single one.

Only way I was able to get the magnum in rebirth was to transfer my save to my real RE:DS cart via a modded 3ds to solve the candle puzzle and transfer the new save back to retroarch.

I tried changing the mic sensitivity in-game but I could never get past the second one. Still, I haven't picked up the magnum a single time, not even in standard mode, so it's doable regardless. I'm only missing simple cutscene achievements and saving Rebecca

I can almost guarantee that you can't load a save because it wouldn't be able to track your progress (since there probably isn't anything in the game that counts how many times you've opened the item box, and it would require for it to be saved into your save file for it to work)

About blowing out the candles to get the red jewel for the magnum; like DarknessMan said, in MelonDS you can blow out the candles with a single button press (L2 for me by default, iirc)

There is an on-line save converter you can use to transfer your saves between Desmume and MelonDS and back again. You can find it here:
