Man, I didn't expect this to take me nearly 100 hours of playtime. Getting a team ready for the Battle Subway and then actually tackling that beast took up so much more time than I had first anticipated, but it's a good feeling to have done it. Acquiring all the Pokémon was rather smooth sailing, and while that obviously also took its time, at least I knew I constantly made progress, unlike breeding the competitive Pokémon or praying to not get RNG'd to death in the Battle Subway. Overall though, this did spark a newfound love for Generation 5 for me and I wouldn't be opposed to approach the other Generation 5 titles in the future. If you want to try this yourself, PLEASE NOTE A MISSABLE! "My Personal Safari" is an achievement you can permanently get locked out of, if you take too long to reach White Forest. If you don't want to do a second playthrough, make sure to reach this place as quickly as you can!

If it can't be done on an emulator, it can't be done while linked to RetroAchievements. If you need a modded save, then it shouldn't be an achievement.

To be more specific about the matter surrounding White Forest, yes, that achievement is missable if you aren't planning on connecting to Pokemon Black later on. And it requires you to beat the entire E4 first, too.

Moreover, this is something that is affected by the REAL passage of time -- most sources claim that 3-6 days is the limit before your forest will empty out (rates vary with different NPCs). And from then on, the only way to replenish it is to connect to Black.

As for me, I beat the game after almost 18 in-game hours (often sped up) over the course of three days and can confirm that I had the max of 10 pokemon in my forest. It's more likely to have a slow burn until nothing is left, but theoretically, you could miss out by losing multiple NPCs on the 4th or 5th day, I'd suppose.

If you're worried about that achievement, it's best to wait until you've got a weekend off or ready to commit 4-6 hours per day for a few days. Or be ready to use Black version. Not sure if any other workaround exists for it, barring straight-up cheating.

Finally mastered. This was my 3rd Pokemon mastery on RA and I'm pretty happy with the choice I made. White was a decent game, definitely the best story of the series (at least in my opinion) and one great regional dex (given that there are no foreign Pokemon, so you only get "new" stuff).

The set was good aswell. I obviously had issues with a lot of what other people did, like Victini and White Forest: they shouldn't be achievements if they require outside usage of other tools. Other than that, it was an average 100% completion of a Pokemon game, just a lot of grinding towards the end and some pretty mindnumbing stuff like the musical props, but that was to be expected.

Battle Subway was actually decent: I went into it dreading the entire experience but I didn't mind it. I'm someone who doesn't really like Battle Facilities, I prefer nuzlockes if I want pure battles, so for the Subway (and by extension, the Institute) to be fun, I take that as a major positive.

All in all, a pretty good set. I finished it in 75:23 real time and 276:33 IGT (almost all of which was sped up).

this sure was a helluva freaking challenge, had to use a lot of workarounds and whatnot, even suffered by a stupid bugged cheevo but finally i mastered it. its so gratifying finishing this set; def wont be touching this game in a long looooong time.

Ahh, so from what people have gathered, the "My Personal Safari" achievement requires you to blast through to White Forest fairly quickly otherwise you're locked out of getting it without connecting to Black version 🤔
I'm working on the POC for both titles and the base set for Black, so I may leave this one until the very end so I can focus on it without hopping between the other sets.

My condolences to the folks who found out the hard way but also many thanks for warning the rest of us 🥲

If you don't get to White Forest fast enough, is it easy to connect to a Black save file with an Emulator? Also, can you connect an emulator to an actual DS? I don't have a Black save file for an emulator that I can connect to, but I did beat Black on my actual physical cartridge.

After seeing the new revision for Pokémon Black, I'm hoping this gets a revision or merged set in the future since Gen 5 and specifically White and White 2 are my favorite games in the series.
