Preparing to hustle... |
-Stay near the center of the field; this minimizes the time you'll need to spend to run over and grab a box. At the center of the field, they would all be roughly equal in terms of how far away they are from you
-A maximum of only 2 boxes can appear on the field at once. This means that even if the box is only worth 100-200 points, it's still worth picking up because it frees up that "slot" for a box that's worth more points to spawn
-The manner in which you reset the game seems to have a different effect on the RNG...
--If you reset the game via emulator (i.e. pressing H in RetroArch), it seems to keep the RNG "seed" mostly intact... certain inputs from you will cause certain boxes to appear more consistently, at least for the first 30 seconds or so
--If you reset the game by inserting a coin, it appears to reroll the RNG "seed" and change box spawn patterns much more drastically
-If you can get about 9,000 points by 45 seconds, you have a much higher chance of hitting 19k by the end, and it may be best to avoid the ??? blocks in this case because they are unnecessarily risky
-If you're getting frustrated, it may be best to walk away and come back a few hours or even the next day. I found that I got much closer in my first few attempts in a day, and tended to score worse the longer I tried in that same day
Best of luck!
them just require you to get 15000 score, which if you're good at adapting into game concepts and rules, you can get to that score within 15 minutes.
It's just this last one where the Retro Achievements is stretching you with you're abilities, as getting 19000 score seems to be very reliant on RNG. I originally posted about me thinking there could be some consistency in the spawns based off your movement, but I recently debunked it. it's sadly not as consistent as I thought. That said, this is veeeery RNG based. Careful how much of your time you end up spending on this game.
Pretty easy set, just need a little luck with the spawn.
Wow, I didn't know loot boxes existed all the way back in 1977! There seems to be a mix on if the amount of RNG required to get 19k is fine or too much, and personally I think it's the latter, given it took me about 4 hours when getting 15k was about 12 minutes. I did like the game though, perhaps more than Snake, and may get around to casually trying to get scores, but I think the achievement did kind of sour me on it overall.
My general guide for getting through is to reset until you start with about 2k points after the first 10 seconds, and try to at least get 9k by the time you reach 45 seconds, mixing PasokonDeacon's advice with IzaNamiZX's. Don't know what they're saying with avoiding the ??? blocks though, you kind of need them unless you reach about 15k with a good few seconds left.
Overall, I'd recommend getting the 15k achievement and not seriously trying to go for the 19k, but if you have some free time to try and don't mind RNG, feel free to aim for Mastery.
This game has some RNG, but it is pretty tolerable imo. There are far worse RNG games... It was a fun experience.
A bit of a pain to get the 19k cheevo. You're at the mercy of the RNG for it. Pretty much followed the advice of everyone here. Really need to be over 9k by the 45 second mark to have any chance of getting the 19k, although the game has a tendency to screw you over in the back half.
I found avoiding the ??? squares to be best, as more often than not they're negative scores. I go for them early on as it's a quick reset if it's a negative (I use the game's reset, not RetroArch's reset, which I have mapped to Select on my PS4 controller.)
