Get maximum score
Now go into the folder where your Retroarch is saved. Go to system -> fbneo and create a folder called "samples". Place the .zip file inside this folder.
When you load up Space Invaders again, this issue should be fixed. The same problem exists on FinalBurn Neo for Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Junior and this is how I fixed it.
