Things to note: co-op is allowed, though some achievements require player one to complete them (such as max power, max bombs). You should join only before the start of the first stage in the menu, not during a stage. If at any point during a stage you increase credits, most achievements will no longer work. Set the credits at the menu, then don't touch them. Dip switch settings need to be set to default.

Just FYI, for the 3 or lower starting credits, it's from when you're in the first mission. From the main menu you can have 4, press start, it goes to 3 you choose your plane, the mission starts and you're good to go.
