Level 8 (hardest) tips:1. Gotto learn how to parry. No way around that, especially against Gill and Ryu/Ken.2. The first 3 stages, you can play however you want. But after Stage 3, you should play defensively. Learn your opponent, make them whiff/miss their moves (or parry them), and punish them. 3. Against Gill, I've found a surefire way to win. When the round starts, start walking to the left corner (if you're P1) and Gill will do a couple of fireballs (PARRY them!) and some other moves, but ultimately he'll come after you and do the clothesline rush move (the one where he yells "Die!" or something). If you either block it or parry it, you can throw him to the other side so that now HE is in the corner. Then start walking to the other corner and do the same thing. If you have meter, when you block/parry his "Die!" move, you can punish him with a super. Unless you really know what you're doing, do NOT engage Gill in offensive hand to hand combat -- ALL of his moves have higher priority (and cause a lot more damage) than yours. Hope that helps.

Level 8 tips (continued): The reason why I mentioned Ryu/Ken separately in my post above is, because if you run into them in the latter stages (5 or 6), you're gonna be in a world of hurt. They cause a LOT of damage (Ken can take off over half your life with a single Shinryuken), and they can counter a lot of your moves. Ken is even more problematic, because if you turtle too much, he'll come up to you and grab you. So be patient, jump at them and parry their Shoryukens, and punish them once they land. Sometimes they'll do random Tatsumakis, so just crouch under them as they're doing those and punish them once they land. A lot more than Gill, Ryu/Ken have killed many of my no-continue runs, so I hope the tips help. Good luck!

Well, I finally got the game to work, and I see that there are not only "beat the game without using a continue" for EACH character, but there's one for each character on the highest difficulty! RA, what the hell

No arcade game in the history of the arcades ever had such high expectations to live up to one of the greatest games ever made and then failed so completely to live up to them as did Street Fighter III. I remember that weeks after this game launched no one was playing it and you could get a game any time, no quarters waiting, no lineups, max one or two "Three" cabinets in a large arcade.
