I hope you enjoy it!
Smidibones 17 Nov 2022 04:11
Maaaaan I want to play this so bad but the performance is terrible.... Is there any way to get it to run better? It's so choppy and slow...
Skyhurricane 3 Dec 2022 00:16
Smidibones are you using RetroArch, and what version and which core are you using?
SGreenwell 3 Dec 2022 01:05
He's probably referring to how slow the game runs as-is. :) I remember renting it as a kid, and the performance on the SNES is honestly pretty terrible. At least for me, I have frame skip bound to Q on my keyboard - It's absolutely vital for this game.
Skyhurricane 5 Dec 2022 03:55
Yeah, same here. When I play it fast forward is a must, lol
Skyhurricane 25 Jun 2023 05:07
If anyone thinks it would be helpful, I can make a video for an achievement guide for this game. Just let me know and I'll be glad to help however I can.
SGreenwell 25 Jun 2023 14:24
@ Skyhurricane - that would probably be helpful, but I bet the performance issues mentioned in the previous wall posts are why people aren't into this one as much as, say, SimCity SNES. I think you've done a great job with the achievements, it's just a tough lift because of how sluggish the game is.
Skyhurricane 1 Sep 2023 23:45
That's understandable. I appreciate the kind words, and if anyone does encounter a problem please let me know and I'll be glad to work on fixing it.
Smidibones 1 Nov 2023 16:10
Hmmm good idea... thanks guys I'll try playing with frame skip
Smidibones 6 Nov 2023 20:10
Well lads... Between frameskip and emulation getting a lot better in the last few years, I'm happy to say I'm DEEP into the SNES version and loving every minute of it. I have NO IDEA how it's humanly possible to get a pop of 10mil but I didn't think I could master the original SimCity either but I did that and I'll do this to. Might take a year but I'll do it! Thank you for the incredibly hard achievements. This should keep me busy for a long ass time.
Smidibones 11 Nov 2023 11:54
@Skyhurricane how much cash is considered hoarding?
Skyhurricane 16 Nov 2023 03:21
Hey Smid, that's a good question, and thanks for asking. Having $100,000 or more before getting the achievement will cause the achievement not to trigger.
Skyhurricane 16 Nov 2023 03:23
Also, the population benchmark achievements are programmed such that your city shouldn't be experiencing insanely fast growth. For example, to get the Relieving Scenery achievement where you must reach 30K population, the frame before you have to have a population between 28K and 30K. This is for cheat protection as early game you should not be jumping more than 2k population within 1 frame.
Skyhurricane 17 Nov 2023 02:15
I may need to look into this though, because if a city is very unstable and imbalanced it could have much faster swings up and down.
Skyhurricane 24 Nov 2023 21:57
Okay, for most non-scenario achievements as well as the leaderboards, please start at the year 1900.
MacMashPotato 6 Sep 2024 08:51
Im gonna have sim city screen burnt into my screen at this rate.
Smidibones 30 Oct 2024 19:06
@Skyhurricane I was just pulling my hair out trying to figure out why the cheevos wouldn't trigger for sound of stream and just saw your post about starting at 1900... so that answers my question! Thank you sir!
Smidibones 1 Nov 2024 16:47
@skyhurricane i just finished the sounds of stream 30k achievement for the 4th time in a row. Followed all the rules. Started at 1900. This last one i verified at the start it was the SOS map checking "recent players" to see my stats. After I got to 30k it didn't trigger and I checked my "recent player" stats again on the site - and confirmed RA is now reading that I'm playing "relieving scenery" but I'm not. It took 4 tries to realize this is what's happening.
Smidibones 2 Nov 2024 13:05
Confirmed also hilly terrain showing up on RA site as relieving scenery... I guess I'll give up on these achievements:(
Skyhurricane 22 Nov 2024 06:13
Sorry I've taken a bit of a hiatus checking this with work and stuff, but I'll look into it to see if I can figure out what's happening. I appreciate you pointing this out.
