Could you elaborate what "not long" will be, so I can temper my expectations? Also, how far would you need to be before you'd need to restart?

I'm where Tifa goes to Don Cornholio. Will I need to go back? I'm confused why we can't continue if certain requirements are being removed.

The revision is going to have an achievement for beating Guard Scorpion, so if you've played the game for more than 2 minutes you'll need to restart.

Just jumping in to say that the Ancient Steps Retraced and low level achievements were my favorite. I've played this game through countless times since it was released and those two challenges really put my knowledge of the game to the test.

They are fair, challenging, and rewarding.

Same but I'm sure I'll replay ff7 at sone point and will master the set then. Mastery will be in years but it's not like anyone will know or care.

You can always look in the unofficial page of any game by typing ?f=5 at the end of the URL to see what, if anything, has been added. I haven't done stuff for a bit as I'm close to finishing the GC set I'm currently working on, but once that is done I will be focusing fully on getting the revision done.

Looks like a set I would love to try out but I can't bring myself to play the original translation and hope the Reunion will be allowed. I understand it does mess with some of the stats but it just one I would rather play if I am going to play FF7 again.

I also hope the revision allows the translation patch to be used, I've been wanting to play it as someone who's played the original translation so many times and also as someone who played the JP 1.0 version lol
