Right now doing the "damageless" ones. At first, i thought they were insanely unfair. But actually, in practice, is one of the best challenges i've ever had in SOTN since i first played it, back in ´98.

Got to master the game yesterday and this set was really fun, I've got to know a lot of things bout weapons, items, and the game in it's fullest. That being said, Family Matters and Rondo Gaiden are hell, but worth try

não sei se vc tá zuando, mas por segurança vou responder, no caso a tradução é "sem sofrer danos", ou seja, vc não pode receber danos do Drácula xD boa sorte na jogatina!

For people that are complaining about the set: I am an slightly above average player and was capable of completing it. Don't prejudge it by the cheevos description, it's easier than it looks.

Why not make subsets with all that "Defeat Giant Boss Crab naked with a paintbrush"?
35k players almost like a Sonic 1 for genesis but CSOTN has a 7 rarity.
Easy game cause of OP characters, lets make the player nerf himself to make challenge.
All Castlevania metroids suffer from that and they are some of the most played.
I think maybe a lot of new users start with some of them.
Look at the numbers, I pray for subsets or hacks that make interesting runs.

Baalbanio, I agree 100%. In an attempt to make an unchallenging game a challenge, it is just made to be obtuse and tedious. If you know the boss patterns at all, most of these still aren't difficult.

I would agree that moving the "Defeat death by hopping on one foot and only when mercury is in retrograde" style achievements should be moved to a challenge subset. These achievements are clearly extremely divisive as evidenced by all of the forum and comment chatter. Why not move them to a challenge subset so those who enjoy that kind of thing can still enjoy them and the people that don't enjoy them don't have them as a barrier to their enjoyment?

To add to my previous comment: It does seem the current active devs are not fans of the idea, but there isn't much elaboration from the few posts I've seen. But hey, they did the work and this is a free service.

Hi. There are already two lot easier official sets 1st for XBox 360 and 2nd for PS4. So if you want other kind of experience you can play them instead. RA has it's own approach to including content for sets especially for classic gem like this one.

This is actually a great set, even though I used to throw hate on it before cuz I thought it was impossible. Turns out most achievements are really easy even for a noob like me. All the no damages are actually fun to learn boss patterns and feel really satisfying when you beat them. Don't let those long descriptions intimidate you. Even Rondo of Blood Gaiden is easy after gaining so much insight by beating the game with Richter. Only achievement I really had a problem with was "Shaft Floor is Lava" which I agree is the only bad achievement of the set, no satisfaction by doing it either. Pro tip: always check the comment section of those challenges, they are filled with people sharing how they did it and honestly it's one of the best thing about mastering this set.

Thanks Shmelyoff for the explanation, that makes sense. I was more asking as a general philosophy for others. Personally, I should be more than capable of doing this set, I've been running and occasionally speed running this game off and on since the 90s. Though now that I say that I guess I'll have to prove it and get it done.

Mastered. It took me 64 hours. While I dreaded a lot of this set, I found it quite doable with guides that people leave. My only gripe is the monster item one, it just felt a little tedious. All the challenging ones have great proximity to save points, so practicing didn't feel punishing for run backs. It really got me on the edge of my seat, so kudos to the set designer.
