You have to swing across 25 vines going only left or right. If you change direction the achievement resets. I always find disabling one of the direction keys helps so if you do accidentally press the wrong way it won't reset.

mastery #59. this is the best atari 2600 game i've played yet, i understand now why this is considered one of the best games ever made for the system. that vine swinging animation is surprisingly smooth, which is an achievement on the 2600, all of the small things are very good. that last achievement was brutal to get though...

Get good at the timing. Try to jump as late as possible.

They always head towards you and will change direction as you jump over them.

They will, but it's completely possible to consistently hop them if you jump as late as possible and get used to the timing.

Great set, but I question the logic of making the most difficult achievement the win condition. When you master and beat a game by completing the same achievement, what's the point of even having a win condition?

No, I'm asking why Indiana Jones is the win condition. Beating the game and mastering the game are different things, yeh? However, I imagine for most people, Indiana Jones is the last achievement. Therefore, people aren't beating the game before they master it; they're beating the game at the same time as mastering it.

It's a win condition because that's winning the game, collecting all the treasures. The fact that beating the game and mastering the set are two different things is irrelevant.

Do you have an example of what might be considered beating the game? I think unfortunately for this game, it's all 32 treasures. IMO there should also be a 114,000 points as mastery, but I appreciate the hell out of this set. There could also be a time-based mastery, as in getting all treasures or scoring 114,000 in less than 19 minutes and 30 seconds. Hmm. I just noticed that 19 minutes is 1,140 seconds, and the max score is 114,000. 40 years and I just figured that out.

Honestly, I don’t know. This just seems to be a case where mastery and win condition are essentially the same. It happens, I guess. I didn’t mean to make it seem like a bigger deal than it was.

Collecting all the treasures is beating the game. To master it you have to complete all the challenges, like Explorer, Vanguard, Commando, etc. You don't need to do those to beat the game so it adds an extra dimension to the mastery.
