Rojo, you need to do a strong grapple and then hit the analog stick while the meter reads “special.” You can also use your opponent’s finisher by doing a strong grapple and A & B when the meter reads “special.”

finally mastered 🤩 for the hard tournament league trophy i used joe bruiser. i jabbed my way through by just hitting light with short tap on a and b. as soon as the opponent rested in the ropes i gave him a strong strike. ez tko victories.

My advice on Hard Mode is to limit striking to advantageous situations where you see the CPU is evading a lot. When the CPU is really getting on a roll with a string of attacks, I’ve run out of the ring and chained taunts to raise my Spirit and slightly weaken the CPU’s. A higher Spirit has given be a better chance to counter grapples. Another thing I do is practice my blocks and evades. Understanding what works is crucial. Also, if you successfully counter a grapple, momentarily stunning the CPU, I would suggest ALWAYS weak grappling over anything else.

Mastery #2 Scott Norton is king.

Used Eddie Guerrero for the Cruiser, he has a plethora of moves that KO efficiently but other than him use Norton for maximum beat ass.

Using an acrobat character helps cheese Hard Mode achievements. I was Rey Mysterio and kept hopping over the rope to the outer apron, then doing flying jumps back into the ring. The flying jump covers almost half the ring as long as you're lined up vertically/hortizontally with the opponent, so if the CPU is far away just wait and they'll eventually approach. When it lands, the flying attack can never be countered and always knocks them down, which allows you to drag them away from the ropes and follow up with consistent submissions.

Alternatively, go outside of the ring and keep reaching for the CPU's legs to pull him outside whenever you can. Follow up with submissions, or try to grab a weapon to get some big hits in. The CPU will rarely follow you out of the ring, preferring to taunt and let you grab them instead. Once you pull them out of the ring and do a submission, climb back into the ring and wait for the CPU to follow. Rinse and repeat 5-6 times, then they should "Give Up" on the next in-ring submission.

Some of these achievements are not triggering or they are unlocking at the wrong time. This game, while holding fond memories from my childhood, is hard to WANT to play when the following three reign supreme. The achievements not popping just solidifies this as trash.

And cleared. Aside from the achievements that require specific characters or the Cruiserweight ladders that restrict you to that wrestler type, once you unlock Joe Bruiser (AKA totally Muhammad Ali) you can cheese most of them with him and his quick and painful jabs.

Coming back to this game, it's a lot easier than WM2K and No Mercy. I used Shaman for most of my run.
