Mastery # 33 is my first mastery of the iconic plumber Mario, and what a fine RPG it is. It is simple yet entertaining, which is expected from Mario RPGs. And more so with the set for completionists like me who like to explore everything it has to offer.
A big thanks to Chows for the spreadsheet to keep track of all the tattle and Auri64 for the recipes, there's a lot of checklist for this game so these were a big help

Mastered (#1)! I ended up missing some missable achievements so I had to do a clean up run immediately after my first playthrough. A couple of tips i wanna give for new players going for masters; toggle the missable achievements so you can clearly see what you need to get (they can be hard to see when they are mixed in with regular achievements). My next tip is to utilize all your save files. You have 4 of them! When you complete a chapter, copy the save file to a new slot so you can back track if needed for a possible missed achievement. It sucked when I missed two achievements in chapter 5; it would have been great if I had a chapter 4 save file to boot up... Despite the set backs, I love Paper Mario and it was a pretty rewarding set to earn! You will get to experience everything the game has to offer if you go for all of them! I'm honored to have it be my very first Mastered game!

Mastery #2, such a great game and its my first time ever 100% this game. Try to save all your ultra shrooms and jammin jelly for the recipes unless your gonna have to lil oink farm them like i had to.

For someone who had never played this one and only played TTYD (I swear, this game can't have been very well advertised), I can say that I'm pleasantly surprised with how many mechanics and features were present even during the N64 days!

It's clear to me now that TTYD just copied most of the original ideas and cleaned them up a bit. Polished elements aside, they both stand on their own in terms of characters and story. Similar yet different. But the characters in TTYD were obviously much more dynamic and better designed overall.

As for the set, I can say that it's a good one overall, but you need to be quite attentive, especially with keeping track of enemies tattled, recipes you've already cooked, and NPCs you've given letters to.

Bolded means they're either missable or one-time only. The Toad Town enemies are battled at the Dojo when you're ready for them. Many bolded enemies appear alongside bosses, so be careful with them.

You need to make all of them at least once. If you cook a Mystery (you can buy them at Boo Mansion), then it has a chance to make any of the items in the green font. This can save you a lot of time, especially mid-game.

Any of the missed star pieces in the "Overworld" section can be identified by the fortune teller. Ones received through letters or the mayor, you'll need to keep track of on your own since she won't tell you who you've missed.

Yes, it's the same one. Just clarifying since some people won't know what achievements will be problematic going in, so it's good to have reminders posted here on the main page since this is where people look first 99% of the time.

Another reminder worth noting is that you need to make sure to get the Luigi's Diary achievement AFTER beating the final boss but BEFORE the credits. If you don't, you'll have to redo the entire battle + dialogue. Even more annoying if you've climbed down the castle entirely, as I did.

The set is much easier than TTYD on a whole, so if anyone has completed that one, nothing here should be difficult other than keeping track of things, which is a bigger problem in this one.

Finally. This set took me absolutely forever because I gave up on it after missing a tattle twice and ended up having to do 3 save files instead of 2. This took a lot of will from me to actually go back and complete after giving up after all of that.

Mastered! This has always been one of my favorite games ever, so it was a blast to do this set! I thought I knew everything about this game, but going for 100% showed me some stuff I had no idea even existed, like that radio Toad with the fetch quests and Luigi's extra diary pages after beating Bowser. Overall it's a pretty easy set, especially for someone who's beaten this game countless times like me, you just gotta pay very close attention to the missables and keep track of your tattles, recipes and hidden blocks. Those spreadsheets shared above for the tattles and recipes were a godsend, thanks a lot to the people who made them!

Mastered. I have fond memories of my first time playing this game from the Wii Virtual Shop when I was in middle school. Bought it on a complete whim with the limited Wii Points I had, and ended up getting pretty into it, even waking up early before school to squeeze in a little extra playtime. Hadn't really had the inkling to play again until it came up in the AotW, and after getting far enough to bring in the first party member, I decided why not just go for mastery.

I think this set is perfect for what this game is. It points you towards seeing everything this game has to offer, including all collectables, secrets, as well as some unique challenges for bosses that make you think a little, without being overly difficult. You will definitely want to consult a guide for at least the Encyclopedia achievement to make sure you don't miss anything. Additionally, consider taking a peek at the comments for the all badges achievement, as there is the potential to screw yourself and miss it and have to start all over.

I was very pleased to have mastered in a single run. The thing with mastering a game like this is that personally I don't think I'll ever play it again, which is bittersweet to think about. But I've had my fun. Perhaps its finally time to take on TTYD.

Mastered! Been putting off trying to master an N64 set, but this was a great place to start :) Lots of fun, creative achievements that teaches you a lot about the game. None of the achievements are too painful either (aside from "Afraid of Ghosts", wasn't a fan lol).

All in all this was a fantastic set and it was great to play one of my childhood favourites!

P.S. - A subset of some sort would be really cool, any ideas?

for some reason it always crashes when luigi opens the door at the beginning of the game, and also when kammy casts a spell on the intro of the game. does anyone know how to fix this issue? retroarch btw
