What is DevJam?
DevJam is an ongoing developer event that replicates the experience of console rollouts for systems already supported by RA but did not get a rollout. Some DevJams will focus on a single console while others may focus on two or more consoles. Each DevJam lasts for a season (3 months) before moving on to the next jam.
PlayJam is a sister event that encourages players to play the games developed via DevJam during the previous season. This is a low-key event designed to celebrate the release of these new sets.
Console of the Season - PC Engine/PC Engine CD
The PC Engine, known as the TurboGrafx-16 in North America, was released in 1987 in Japan and released worldwide in 1989. Although it still had an 8-bit CPU, it was marketed as a 16-bit console (and the first of the fourth-generation consoles) thanks to its 16-bit GPU. Games were capable of displaying over 482 colors at the same time, making it a huge leap compared to the popular Famicom. A year after its release in Japan, a CD-ROM add-on was created, allowing the console to support larger games. The console did very well in Japan but did not have similar success in other markets. The late release made its main competitors the SNES and Mega Drive systems. Ultimately, NEC did create one more console, the PC-FX but only released it in Japan. PC Engine games would later get another chance to shine when they were brought to the Wii Virtual Console in 2006.

FAQ
Feel free to ask questions in this thread, Discord or via site DM, but please take a look at these FAQs first!
What does it take to beat game X?
Beating a game requires you to earn all the progression achievements and at least one Win Condition achievement. Clicking any progression marker on a game’s page will open a window detailing which achievements need to be earned to consider the game beaten.
Can I play in Softcore mode?
As with most events, participation requires playing in Hardcore mode. This is the best way to ensure that the rules are enforced and that everyone has a level playing field.
Can I earn points by playing games from a previous season?
No, only games that are in the DevJam hub and are for the featured console(s) are eligible for points each quarter. Since this is an ongoing event, you will always be able to get more points next quarter!
Can I make a suggestion for a community goal?
Certainly! We do not want to overwhelm the event with community goals, but we’re always open to interesting options to consider for the next quarter.
What is the featured console for next season?
We don’t want to spoil anything, but researchers have been repeatedly checking their pockets for loose change. Could be worth an investigation… 🪙

Hoping I can actually commit to doing this! I go distracted during season 1 and only completed one game. I completely missed out on season 2, which sucks, because Saturn stuff is pretty cool. I love me some Turbografx/PC-Engine, though! I've started playing Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes.
edit: hey, turns out I did pretty well with this event! Managed to get my 12 points and then some.
