Ended up getting it with a lot of trial and error, basically you just have to be very thorough with the food you get and make sure you stay ahead of Dedede until the very end where you can let him pass you

well the principle is pretty obvious, it's in the actual practice that I keep failing. Eating 91 more food than him (minimum) is all that it takes, guess I'll make a cheat sheet with all jumps and direction changes

Protip, if you don’t do as well in stages 1 or 2 you can make it up in stage 3

Stage 3 makes all the difference. Pick up Wing and grab every piece of food you can, prioritizing the Maxims and the food Dedede would usually go for.

I found in my experience skipping certain pieces of food can mess with dedede's pathfinding which slows him down. Makes it a lot easier to stay ahead of him. Managed to get 146 with no abilities.

As long as you can manage to score 30 + whatever food dedede manages to get by the end of each round, you'll be good. I ended up DESTROYING dedede in round 3 with 66 points and no abilities so don't be afraid to undershoot by a few points on the first few rounds, prioritize getting the maximum tomatoes each round (including the ones at the end by stopping just before, jumping. and then inhaling to ensure you don't cross the finish line)

Did this one with 155 points, feels good! It really is just a case of movement and optimization, you'd want to take as much food from Dedede as you can while still coming out on top with the food count. As mentioned before, Round 3 is the real moment of truth, I managed to get this one with Wing. Helps a lot that Dedede destroys every block in his path rather than moving around them.
