I'd suggest entering the level with a golden Aku Aku, since you can use invincibility to your advantage (also despite my best efforts, the shorter yellow gem path isn't fast enough)

Enter the level with two Aku Akus. Don't waste time waiting for the flamethrower guy, sacrifice a mask in the first one.

You’re best going in with a golden Ali and waiting for the first flamethrower, then you can go invincible all the way to the end from the first Aku box. :) got it first try with this method and was trying for nearly an hour using other methods

Thanks Olboll. I spent so long trying to get though this sacrificing a mask to each flamethrower guy. Got it first try by waiting for the first flamethrower.

I also just had success with Olboll's method. You can get two invincible masks if you start the level with a gold mask and play it right.

I went in with 2 and waited on the first flame guy. Don't lose a mask until you get invincibility at the checkpoint, then rush. If you're not gonna make it past the high speed fans, wait to break the other aku box, they don't stack time

Didn't read the comments here so managed a 1:04.16 cutting it close with the damage boosting method rather than the superior method of being patient with the first flamethrower and then running through most of the level with the invincibility mask.
