Thus, if you use Level 5 Smeargle with Dragon Rage, all opponents will be Level 5 and can be one-shot with Dragon Rage.
I'd also recommend throwing a PP Max on that Dragon Rage and giving him hold items like Quick Claw, Focus Band, or Leftovers. Cloning the Quick Claws would be the smartest move.
Fighting the trainers in double battles seems to be safer, especially if they've got a Pokemon that can outspeed you (since the 2nd Smeargle can take him out). The fast ones are your biggest threat, so take them out first.
That extra Smeargle grind is really unnecessary.
But if you rather skip the Battle Frontier, then the Smeargle strat is amazing.
