I used a team of 6 Level 5 Smeargles each with the move Dragon Rage based on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-sss9giRHo I didn't bother with EV training or using PP Up and instead used a ton of revives / potions to survive the gauntlet. I recommend breeding your Smeargles to have a speed of 14 at Level 5 (+Speed nature & decent Speed IVs or Perfect Speed IVs with neutral nature) because you can outspeed about half of the Pokemon at that level.

Yes, in all Trainer Hill / Battle Frontier facilities, your opponent's Pokemon level is the same as the highest Pokemon level in your own party.

Thus, if you use Level 5 Smeargle with Dragon Rage, all opponents will be Level 5 and can be one-shot with Dragon Rage.

The Smeargle strategy above works quite well. I'd just like to add that getting a fast one and cloning him after getting Dragon Rage sketched will save you a lot of time.

I'd also recommend throwing a PP Max on that Dragon Rage and giving him hold items like Quick Claw, Focus Band, or Leftovers. Cloning the Quick Claws would be the smartest move.

Fighting the trainers in double battles seems to be safer, especially if they've got a Pokemon that can outspeed you (since the 2nd Smeargle can take him out). The fast ones are your biggest threat, so take them out first.

Or... if you prepared the Team for the Battle Frontier anyway, use that instead. There are only 4 Double Battles and Item usage are allowed. Buy some revives, hyper potions and full restore/full heal. Did it first try it with Latios/Metagross/Milotic alone at Lv 50.

That extra Smeargle grind is really unnecessary.

But if you rather skip the Battle Frontier, then the Smeargle strat is amazing.
