I found the ??? behind the blue chair in the beginning, but no achievement. Is there something else I needed to do?

I found that I needed to change to the SNES9X (2010) core to get achievements (like this one) to trigger.

Português: Essa conquista é perdível, portanto cuidado!
Segue o tutorial para essa conquista: depois de resgatar a princesa do casamento forçado, você será enviado de volta para o Mushroom Kingdom.
Lá a princesa dirá que irá para o quarto dela. Depois de toda a conversa com o chanceler, NÃO SAIA DO CASTELO (Se sair, a conquista não será desbloqueada)!
Dentro do castelo vá para o quarto da princesa. Dentro do quarto, fique entre a lareira e a cadeira azul, de frente para a parede e aperte o botão A. Pronto! A conquista será liberada :)

English: This achievement is missable.
Follow the tutorial for this achievement: after rescuing the princess from forced marriage, you will be sent back to the Mushroom Kingdom.
There the princess will say that she will go to her room. After all the talk with the Chancellor, DO NOT LEAVE THE CASTLE (If you leave, the achievement will not unlock)!
Inside the castle go to the princess' room. Inside the room, stand between the fireplace and the blue chair, facing the wall and press the A button. Done! The achievement will be unlocked :)

Senhores, assim que peguei a primeira estrela (azul), fui direto para o quarto da Peach e perto da lareira encontrei esse interrogação.
