1. On the polygon team, use Kirbys up b near the ledge so that you snap to it while landing and keep spamming it since the knockback is good enough to kill the enemies or groups (also clears the way if items drop, and dont forget to turn around to face the ledge otherwise you dont snap and die)
2. For Metal Mario, just sit and float at the ledge and after a few seconds he'll run over and you can inhale him but release him when you're about 2 inches near the blast zone and he won't recover.
3. For Giant DK, Snag his ability and use the punch on him when he does a laggy move so he gets sent offstage or tumble and dair his dj because the DK wont do up b if you hit him before he does up b for some reason lol. (sometimes the tumble bumps him offstage and his DJ goes super short and he dies)
4. Breathe.
My advice to anyone trying to get this thing:
You don't have to complete Target Test, Board the Platforms, or Race to the Finish.
Play DK. He might be big and his recovery stinks, but he's strong and he can easily take care of dozens of enemies with his Up B. Out of every character mentioned here, he's probably the most consistent for this challenge.
Throwing enemies off stage and gimping them is the name of the game here. Most of the characters can't get back on stage due to their poor recoveries.
Throw the Mario Bros off the ledge and try to gimp them. That was the most consistent strategy for me. Be careful getting back on stage; you can't grab the ledges on Peach's Castle.
Pick up Giant DK and jump offstage with him. Sometimes he'll jump back on stage, sometimes he won't. If he does, you're usually able to get right back and try again. If he doesn't try to jump back, he almost always dies first, in my experience.
Throw Samus off stage two or three times and then hit her with a fully charged Neutral B as she tries to land.
Pick up Metal Mario and either jump off stage with him or just wait until he gets out. He usually won't be able to get back. Just be careful, his vertical recovery is a lot better than yours. If you can do this consistently, you can kill him in less than ten seconds.
The Fighting Polygon Team is by far the biggest obstacle you'll have to deal with. Up B as much as you can without getting hurt, and grab health if it appears. I typically stuck to the ground since you're vulnerable in the air. I don't have a lot of advice here otherwise, just try your best.
Play defensively against Master Hand. I used Up Smash over and over since it's fast and strong.
Hope this helps.
I think my biggest obstacle was the Mario Bros., it feels like half of my runs ended to them. You need to get them split up so you can land some good hits on one of them; if your partner dies too early you'll probably lose.
I try to do it with kirby but kept getting unlucky so I did it with DK but I so glad that I can finally put this game to rest as I just mastered it.
Good luck to the one's that's still trying at this achievement.
If I leave a tip it's this one. Mario Bros were constantly wreckin' me. I was able to break their AI pretty good by spamming Up-Smash on the bottom platform with DK, and catching them with it as they fell through the air. Just had to adjust my position to hit them from below. For some reason the Up-Smash spam makes them stay on the top platform to avoid your spam.
Yay old AI scripting. Lol.
Been wanting this mastery badge for 5 years. It's finally over.
Super Mario Bros:
Isolate Mario and smash hit him to oblivion.
Giant DK:
Let your defenders do their job, pick up items and launch em at Giant DK. Use your wind up punch. If you get desperate, pick them up and carry him off the edge.
Metal Mario:
EASY. Just pick him up, hop off the left side, up B to safety. Rinse repeat. Metal Mario is too heavy and will drop underneath the platform.
Polygon Team:
By far the toughest test. Up B should be your only offense. Stay under the platforms, and occasionally hop up to bang 2-3 of them at once. Item RNG is a little bit of a factor, for example, stay AWAY from crates and pills. The likelihood of them being an explosive is so high. I was fortunate to have 2 red shells and I up B'd the rest of them.
YOU GOT THIS.
Strategy and skill can carry you a long way though.I ended up getting it with DK like many others. Biggest help for me was some advice I saw in an earlier comment, the AI likes to tunnel vision on items. Spam down B next to an item and you can clear a lot of the polygon team. It isn't fool proof but it helps a lot.
I main Kirby competitively which made this challenge easier. I was also using a Nintendo 64 controller with a modified GameCube stick. Here's what I did:
-For 1v1 battles, you can run near the edge, back-throw them offstage, then hit them with a rising down-air which just sends them plummeting down. Kirby's down-air is insanely good, and spikes hard. Make sure to follow them off-stage, jump and do a rising down-air, so that you don't fast-fall down-air and end up dying.
-For the Mario Bros., I hit them with Kirby's bread and butter combo of down-air, z-cancel, 2-3 up-tilts, then a back-air or up-smash. I'd follow them off-stage and down-air them.
-For Giant DK, occasionally he'll just KO himself on accident, but I'd usually just inhale him offstage and release him low enough that he can't recover. Make sure you release him before the blast zone or else you'll die first.
-For Metal Mario, I'd bait him near edge then do Kirby's inhale and fall down towards the blast zone. I made a mistake on my 2nd try of letting go too early and dying b/c I was too cautious. It turns out you don't have to press anything once you inhale him. He'll mash out right before the bottom blast zone, and because he's so heavy, he'll die first.
-For the polygon fighters, I would run to ledge and keep letting go and re-grabbing the ledge to refresh my invincibility, then I would try to bait them into getting hit by a ledge get-up attack. It has really good knockback and kills them safely. Rinse and Repeat. The biggest thing to watch out for here is random items that can kill you like Pokรฉmon and especially bombs.
-Master hand is easy once you learn his patterns, and most of his moves are negated by having a full shield if you don't know how to dodge certain attacks.
Great achievement, but has a lot of RNG which makes it frustrating.
