I haven't measured it, but I think Luigi can't turn as quickly, but has a faster max turbo nozzle speed.

This one was pretty easy, just use the turbo in the middle of the raising water you go faster on water that is dark blue. Then when you need to turn on that last hard right turn just let go and to get a better angle then full blast to the finish line.

Okay I just tested it again, and my boost is about 25% less efficient that what the footage shows, no matter how I use the R trigger (5 sec on a straightaway before swerving right, around 7 on my part)

Definitely an interesting problem you're having, TinNova. Two ideas off the top of my head:

1) Do you have button assignments for both an R press and an R hold? They are different speeds, but default dolphin configuration won't assign both inputs by default to most controllers.

2) Which character are you using? I honestly have no idea if Luigi or Mario is faster, but I'd try swapping between them just in case there is a difference.

@GalaxiusYT I'm using the USB GameCube adapter with an official controller, so I should have all vanilla input nuances. I did most of my attempts with Luigi.

Update: it's not a controller issue, but an engine one, and I don't know how to fix it. I'm using the right version of the game yet my Luigi is going almost half-speed during turbo, which results in times around 35 while using *shortcuts*... this is so boring.

This may explain why I've found it really hard ahah.
@TinNova : I don't know if it can help, but maybe a different route can work for you. Instead of jumping, you can try releasing and pressing again the R-trigger to make fast turn. You can also time to pass the beach when the water is higher, maybe you are faster on water.

@Acrostiche I don't think the first one's faster, and I've already optimized the beach water part. It's just, like, too slow for some reason... when Galaxius reached the sand part with a low 9, I was already 3 to 5 seconds late, with the same route and moves.
