This unlocked for me when I caught a Moltres using the Fly/Teleport glitch, so I assume it's looking for the Pokdex entries.

I swear the catch rates must be higher in Gen 1, I caught each of these in under 3 ultra balls after making them sleep with ~20% HP each whereas catching them in Fire Red with False Swipe and Sleep usually takes me 15 ultra balls on average. Maybe I just got lucky but I had similar luck in Red Version

@WKGames, The catch rate formula was changed in the transition to the GBA. https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Catch_rate
I'm a big numbers nerd, and I can understand the Gen III catch rate. But I can not wrap my head around the Gen I catch rate.
