Okay, I really need help with this one.
I've been watching speedruns and they seem to "wiggle" their stick while draining the bogmire so that they capture him faster but it's just not working for me.
The best I could do in one cycle was to get him up to 40 health.
If anyone could give me any tips here, I'd really appreciate it!!

PS: I've started a new game, no hidden mansion, that has nothing to do that right?

Update:
I finally got it.
I think the only way to get this is in the hidden mansion (mode which you unlock after finishing the game) because ghosts are drained faster and that "wiggling" techinique seemed to work but I don't think I've mastered it yet lol.

This was a satisfying one, putting to bed a boss from my childhood I had some trouble with. Only thing I wish is you didn't have to suck up the Mr. Bones each attempt. But I got it, so that's all that matters!

Bogmire frightened me as a child, so it felt quite good to pull this one off.

the key to getting this for me was realizing that you're only supposed to wiggle when luigi is in control (on his feet), if you wiggle while he's being dragged, then bogmire will break free.

I found this one quite easy. When you got Bogmire in the vacuum, maintain the stick in the opposite direction of Bogmire. If Luigi is on his feet, he has the advantage. You can wiggle the stick to accelerate the draining of Bogmire’s HP, but keep the stick in his opposite direction and you wiil be fine. If you wiggle too much, he will escape. Of course it is easier in hidden mansion.

I've been replaying this game for decades and not once did it occur to me I should try to look up how the ghost-catching process is actually programmed. I always thought Bogmire breaking away at least once was scripted.

Save your sanity and practice with save states. Took me like 45 minutes to figure out the "feel" for this and that would have been hours of practice in HC only. Got it second try after swapping back to HC

Like HydroBombOmb said, maintaining the stick in the opposite direction is what's most important for this. I found that you can keep Bogmire on the line for quite a long time if you don't go crazy with the stick wiggling. You will probably need to use wiggling a little bit, but try to use it as little as possible and stick to just holding the stick in the opposite direction most of the time. PaddyShade's recommendation of using save states to practice is a good one. I don't do that a lot, but it absolutely helped with this one. It did not take too long to get a feel for it that way, and after that this did not end up being too bad.
