Just so other's don't miss this, Lumpy leaves after completing Chapter 3. So make sure he's paid before you investigate the 'ghost' in the champion's room.

How to get:

Talk to Lumpy on the Rogueport Dock sometime before finishing chapter 3 and give him 300 coins in total. After Lumpy leaves, he will come back after Chapter 6. Then you talk to him and get your 999 coins.

I did end up missing this on my first playthrough because I didn't know about this trick and was confusing Lumpy with a different character from chapter 6. I think it would be helpful to change the order of this achievement and place it somewhere near the chapter 3 achievements so it's harder to miss it.

I recommend claiming these coins after you get the platinum card. Then you can go straight to the Pianta Parlor and exchange for the "Money Money" and "Refund" badges which are the two exclusives there.

I think this achievo should be placed up with the chapter 3 ones, personally, since that's the point where it becomes missable (even if it's not where you actually get the money back).

Moved the ordering of this achievement to be right before all the Chapter 4 achievements. Technically he leaves *after* Chapter 4, but I found this to be the most non spoiler position for this achievement. I'm sorry for the inconvenience of the original position.

You can definitely give Lumpy coins after completing Chapter 3 - to correct the earlier messages.

Something else slightly useful to note is that you give him a total of 300 coins in three separate installments of 100 coins -- so you have to speak to him three times. I went and specifically saved up 300 before talking to him, but giving him 100 whenever you get them is obviously a bit easier to manage. Just don't forget to pay the rest later if you do it like that.

Yes you can do this achievement after Chapter 3, tested and confirmed.

You can do it AFTER CHAPTER 3, but as soon as you GO DOWN THE PIPE to Twilight Town, he disappears. I got super lucky and saw this right after going down the pipe and I hadn't saved yet.
